Chapter 1 - Found

As he walks through the moonlit boreal forest, Roman looks for an area to rest, bumping into and snapping the tall branches that he comes into contact with as his black coat keeps him warm. A small opening he finds, good enough.

He grabs a few of the branches that fell and places them in a pile. He gathers dead leaves off the ground and places them into the pile as well as he rubs one of the branches against the others. A flame sparks.

He blows the flame when he hears a noise. A snap. He checks his surroundings. Nothing. Another snap, louder and closer.

The flame grows by a little until it takes an uncanny form. A ball of pure flames arises from it, separating from the source, levitating.

He turns around in time to see a humanoid silhouette behind a tree, donning a black cloak. It's glowing yellow eyes illuminate it's face slightly, revealing dried up blood and a sinister smile.

It prepares to detonate the ball of flames until Roman turns around as he pulls his greatsword from his scabbard and cuts through the ball.

Another ball of flames is directed towards his back, which he also cuts through as he turns. Winding up another shot, the figure leaves itself wide open. Roman lunges at it and impales it.

Another figure comes out, rushing at him at blinding speeds with it's long arms and legs. Roman is quick to put his guard up using one of his arms. It grabs his arm, leaving it open for a slash to it's forearm. It stumbles back and rushes at him once more. Roman rolls away and comes at it once more.

He drives his sword through it's core and pulls it through it's side, killing it. He looks down to examine the two he just killed. The first one had pale skin and seemed thin with skin missing while the second one had arms and legs longer than the average man and also appeared thin with claws at the ends of it's fingers.

"Demons. How could they have found me?"

He feels a presence. More of them. He pulls out a lense from his coat's pocket and puts it up to his eye. He can see the flow of spiritual energy more clearly.

He puts the lens back as one of them runs at him from behind him, appearing more humanoid with horns. He reacts quickly as he slices through it. More begin to rush towards him as he is shot at with flames.

He cleaves through the swarm. He makes eye contact with one of them standing behind a tree, cloaked like the other one. He rushes at it, stabbing through it's throat. After finding another one nearby, he rushes towards that one in a flash, impaling it, as then he circles the area to find more.

When he finished killing off the rest of them, he settled down at the fire once more as he wipes the blood off of his face, coat and gloves as well as his sword. He decides to fall asleep to wake up to the next day.

As he sleeps, a loud noise is heard nearby, like an explosion. He wakes as he looks up to someone flying through the air and crashing into the open area. The man is slightly charred with his robes burned and his pauldrons dented. He appears the same age as Roman, somewhat young, around twenty five to thirty, even with the same dark brown hair and tan skin. He doesn't appear hostile however.

Another figure follows, armored with it's flaming spear in hand. The injured man calls his saber to his hand. The armored figure charges at Roman. He dodges and retaliates with a hard strike to it's helmet.

He leaves a large dent as the figure stumbles back as the other man rushes towards it and stabs through it's eye holes in it's helmet. It stumbles back as Roman tackles it to the ground and takes out the blade. He lands hit after his until it's unresponsive.

With blood on his hands, he looks at the man in the robes, blankly.

"Wait, there's no way!"

"What?"

"Roman?"

"How do you know my name?"

The man removes his hood. "It's me, Raymond!"

Roman's eyes fill with a sort of shock. "Are you serious?"

"You survived!"

He walks forward to shake his hand as Roman does the same.

"Ew! I got demon blood on my hands!", he says sarcastically.

"Sorry about that, I guess."

"Nah. It's fine."

Another explosion is heard in the distance.

"Oh yeah, the Edisons are still fighting the other one."

"They're still alive?"

"Fortunately."

They rush over to see Gideon's spear lodged into the demon's back.

"Guess we got here, what too late or too early?"

"Right on time I suppose." Grant answers.

"Yeah and could you help me get this thing unstuck?" Gideon asks.

They get the spear unstuck which is when Roman comes out from behind his Raymond, towering over the two.

"Roman! It's good to have you back.", Grant calls out.

"I'm glad to see the two of you alive as well."

"Now we have two tall people again", Gideon whispers to his brother.

Roman looks at the corpse.

"This one was bigger than the one we fought. Width wise."

"You should've said 'width wide"

"Wow!" Grant yells out. "That was not funny at all, I will not lie."

"Yeah that joke was shitty, I'll admit"

"Yep, they're still the same", Raymond whispers.

"I can tell", Roman whispers back.
