"Good luck."
The guard waved to Gustav before going back to his position.
The instructor stood by the exit and called the students while other guards maintained the discipline in hall.
The first jeep was arranged for heirs of the influential clans and those whose background related to the High Council.
The guard called out the first name. "Morrigan Pendragon."
Upon its mention, the muttering noise became immediately silent, everyone observing the sole lady walking from behind towards the jeep.
Her face was like carved out of ice jade, while her straight white hair flowed freely. Despite all the attention she was getting, her pace was steady and her gaze unfazed.
The icy cold aura around her made most look away and keep their distance.
She was the daughter of the main house of Pendragon.
Well, Gustav could identify her immediately.
After all she was the main female lead of the novel, the ice cold princess.
Gustav's gaze focused on her. "All that aura effect for just going head over heels for the horny protagonist."
Feeling Gustav's sharp gaze, she turned around for a split second. His face made her lips twist in disgust and she quickly turned back and sat in the jeep.
"Huh?"
She really felt disgust by seeing me?
'This bullshit hypocrisy of the novel and such poorly written 2D characters are making me frustrated. Tsk.'
After her the second name was called. "Son of Almair, Rudha vi Almair."
A silent individual with long blond hair and sharp eyes like a fox made his way to the jeep.
He was the main antagonist of the novel.
'This scheming motherfucker. I have to be cautious of him.'
After that three more names were called out and finally it was, "Gustav Ragnar Volford, son of main house."
Unlike what happened with Morrigan, this time chatter and gossip around people rose more.
"Isn't he a serial rapist?"
"Tsk, why is he here? I don't feel safe around him."
"Even a rapist is accepted here just because he came from a great clan. Damn, the stature of UN is falling."
The gossip didn't affect Gustav much and he walked unfazed towards the jeep.
He was aware of Gustav's background and he knew he wasn't accepted around such high profile individuals.
Here his situation was same as the main character, but around the other students he was still bootlicked.
Well, that's how society is.
In the journey throughout, Ice Princess was sitting facing Gustav but with her face twisted in disgust she looked outside the window. Beside her was the fox eyed villain Rudha who was busy building his connections with others.
Well, this all began from this very moment.
In the academy he would build his own faction and the pillars for that were found here, among the most influential individuals of the year.
'I can understand why he isn't trying to persuade her, cause it is of no effect. She would listen to no one but the main character. She is his bitch after all. But the question is why is he not paying any attention to me? However idiot Gustav is, he is still heir of Volford.'
'Well let it be. A less trouble for me then.'
Gustav's journey felt silent as he was lost in his own monologues. After moving around complicated routes the jeep finally stopped in a secluded place in the forest.
This was the place where the ceremony would occur.
Preparations were complete and the staff was arranging and making sure everything was perfect.
The place was huge and open. It was decorated simply with an elevated platform where a stone with various carvings was. Magic circles and heads of a pig and eagle were there as sacrifices.
Well no one knew, but Gustav being a reader was aware that there was a third head behind the stone and it was of a human.
Normally a human head wasn't needed but UN kept it in the ceremony because it made the connection with other worlds more stable and strong. This allowed the masters to try various tricks to land even better conditions in contracts, which wasn't possible elsewhere.
Beside the stone was a stone carved chair where a professor wearing his sunglasses was sitting. He was lost in the music he was listening to.
One look at him was enough for Gustav to know who he was. Arc Benedict.
He would be the professor assigned to their class as homeroom teacher.
Well his template was inspired by popular mangas back on Earth.
Like covering his eyes and having cool powers in his eyes.
It was an overused template but still, Gustav among most loved his character.
After about thirty to forty five minutes later everyone was finally there.
All instructors made sure all students were standing in their positions and discipline was maintained.
There were around fifty five students standing in five rows. Surrounding them were muscular staff instructors who stood ready with their hands behind their backs.
Finally, Prof. Arc removed his earphones and stood on the stage. He set his hair and then spoke.
"Why are you all so down? Such silence is the first time I am witnessing." He let out a chuckle then continued again. "Are you stressed about what kind of guardian you will summon?"
There was no reply and so he continued.
"Guardians are mysterious beings which allowed us to fight Ends. Thus in today's time they matter to us most, because with their help we can contribute to human society, right? But let me tell you as someone who has experienced the very core of the battlefield, as someone who has fought in and ssurvived the Agantha war, Guardians aren't everything. In a contractual relationship we humans take the majority and become masters. So tell me, who is more important, master or his guardian?"
After a short pause he continued, "Of course it's the master. With a bad master even a top tier guardian is nothing. I would even say it would die by the low tier guardian of a good master. And it is something I am saying with the most concrete experience."
"They become part of your being after the contract but they aren't you. Only you are you. Your mentality, your drive to contribute will decide if you're a failure or not. Not what you summon."
"And so with that mentality, guys! Guys, tell me who is in control?"
And upon his words, the now motivated bunch shouted in unison, "It is us humans!"
"What is the real talent?"
"It is our mentality, sir!"
