Chapter 1 - Awakening

"Your awakening is close... We have been hoping for this day for so long..." A voice rang out through the darkness.

Golden lights floated in the void, circling the golden that didn't belong there. And on that throne sat a man, without a care about the strangeness around him.

"After killing them, throw them in the sea." One of the orbs moved closer. "Monsters like them deserve no memorial or grave."

Another sphere glowed brighter. "You must not trust them, Aether."

A third orb swayed up and down nervously. "They may look like a woman. But they have lost their humanity."

"The amount of damage they have cost is too much. Even when we tried to rebuild, they always stopped it." Another one said.

The man with short golden hair didn't answer. He was waiting calmly, like someone whose ride was running late but wasn't worried about it.

One broke from the formation. "This is why you must chain them and make them pay."

Another golden ball moved up and down. "Just treat them like the trash they are."

"When the plan succeeds." Another orb paused. "You just need to end them."

The last orb spoke. "And then everyone can finally be free..."

Aether's eyes opened slowly before his golden eyes glanced over the spheres in boredom. "Are you all done yet?"

The orbs froze mid-flight.

"You don't want to hear more?" One orb asked, its light dimming.

"No, I don't." Aether sat up a bit in his throne. "I'm tired of your lectures."

The golden spheres trembled before a soft feminine tone emerged. "Aether, this is not a joke. The plan will determine the future of the world-"

"World?" Aether smiles faintly. "Why should I care about this world?"

One of the orbs shook, its light flaring bright. "How could you say that? You have lived in it for ten years-"

"Lived?" Aether questioned in a harsh tone. "You mean that crappy dream you guys shoved me in?"

The golden balls shook even more but Aether didn't wait. He swiftly reached out and grabbed one of them before yanking them close to his face. His golden eyes glared down at the trembling golden ball.

"Don't forget." Aether said in a gentle tone. "You bastards took me from my own world and forced me to be here. And now you want me to save yours?"

The orb in his grip shuddered and quickly spoke. "We had no choice. A person was needed."

Another golden orb quickly said. "Your soul was only one that fitted the plan we had-"

Aether burst out laughing, interrupting it. "Well, I expected that response." He released the orb, and it fled back to join the others.

"I'll give you one thing. That dream was nice. It felt good to be rich and have a family that actually cared about me."

The orbs glowed. "See? Coming here isn't so bad, Aether! If you can save the world! Then you can fulfill any goal and desire of yours!"

"You can even go check on your old world!"

Aether raised a brow. "Regarding the plan I am curious. Aren't you guys being pretty harsh on those Witches?"

The orb quivered in the darkness before all at once.

"Too harsh? They deserve even worse!"

"They didn't even try to do anything to help stop the harm they caused!"

"Please, Aether. Don't even for a moment think they're anything less than monsters that should be chained!"

Each golden ball flashed brighter. Aether didn't move an inch during all this yelling while his face stayed calm.

"Amazing. If they are able to piss you all off this much, maybe the Witches aren't so bad." He said lightly.

Silence fell for a bit before they all quickly spoke.

"What?"

"Aether, they are the ones who destroyed-"

"I know they destroyed the world." Aether waved his hand. "But I know you aren't telling me everything, and I don't like believing the one-sided bias of you bastards."

One of the orbs floated closer. "Please Aether. You aren't ready for everything."

"But we can guarantee this." Another joined in. "They are evil-"

"Shut up."

The orb flinched.

Aether chuckle. "I never said I wouldn't deal with the Witches. I just decided on a better route."

A pause and then one of them asked. "A better route? Why didn't you discuss it with us..."

"Well, because I wanted to wait for this moment." Aether's smile widened. "After all, what I plan to do will drive you disgusting insects into the ground."

"What are you…"

He held out his hand, spreading them wide. "I will love all Witches."

The orbs froze in disbelief, as if the words spoken were unimaginable.

"I will not suppress them like you all want but embrace them all."

Then they erupted.

All of them were screaming all at once in rage. They cursed him out before quickly shifting to scolding him on his stupidity and criticizing his stupid words.

Aether let them rage for several seconds with his smile growing. Before clapping his hands together once.

The sound stunned the orbs.

"There it is." His eyes shone with something fierce. "That's the reaction I want from you all. "You bastards think you could take me from my world, shove me into this body, and have me acting as your lap dog?"

His laughter rang out again, but this time filled with anger and rage. "You messed with the wrong person! I will rip apart those shitty plans you made for me and walk my own path!"

Then cracks began appearing in the darkness. They were faint at first but then gradually grew before spreading full over like glass breaking.

"It's a bit unfortunate you won't get to see me destroy all your hard work." Aether said softly as he glanced at the cracks.

The golden orbs rage quickly turning into panic after realizing what was happening.

"Please!"

"Aether!"

"Follow the plan! You have to follow-"

"Too late." He gave them one last smile. "Now fuck off, you pests."

The darkness shattered like glass before the pain followed as a white light rushed over him.
