Morning came far too quickly. I lay on my back, staring at the ceiling, remembering everything that had happened the night before. My cheeks warmed. I pulled the blanket over my face.
Why had I gone to his office? I already knew the answer. Because I had needed him.
After everything that had happened—the voices, the magic, my mother's warning, the questions about my father—I had felt like I was drowning in things I couldn't understand. And somehow, being with Hades had made the noise quiet. That was the most dangerous part.
I was beginning to rely on him not because he was my Alpha or my mate but he had become the person I looked for whenever I was frightened. I lowered the blanket. That realization scared me more than I wanted to admit.
A knock sounded and I sat up quickly.
"Come in."
Carina pushed the door open. She was carrying a tray. She always brought a tray whenever she comes knocking in the morning.
"Breakfast." I smiled.
"You're very cheerful this morning."
