Peak
I was born in a crowded nursery,
surrounded by others, yet alone.
They gave me a name, but none knew its weight.
I grew brighter with every breath,
until I succumbed to the pressure at my peak.
I collapsed—imploded into myself and onto others,
a blaze that scarred the world around me.
But from the wreckage I returned,
no longer shining as before,
yet brighter in a truer light—
As a star, I evolved, redeemed.
