The walk to the sanctuary turned into a desperate search for Haru's coin.
"What about your inventory?" Genius asked.
Haru shoved his hands into his pockets for the third time, as though the coin might have decided to return of its own accord.
"I can't just reach into my inventory here. They'll see me."
"Then why don't you keep it in there normally?"
"Because I don't usually leave things in there."
Genius stared at him.
"You're a fascinating creature, Tokyo."
"Thanks."
"That wasn't a compliment."
"I'll take it anyway."
Haru sighed. He'd searched his pockets, checked his clothes, and even tried to remember the last time he'd used it. Nothing. The damn Custodians' coin seemed to have been swallowed by the academy itself.
If Yukihime had picked it up, she might have kept it to play with. If Kira had taken it, she'd probably done so to keep him from losing it again.
The worst part was that both possibilities made sense.
