Chapter 16 Part 2 Raid And Reveal

Once she hung up, Qi worried: "If Mom isn't in there what then?"

"What then? A karaoke is a cultural entertainment venue group indecency is prohibited. And this block is under our bureau's supervision. I can't turn a blind eye." She fixed him with a serious look. "They'll send someone I know to lead. When we go in, stick with me. If your mom's not there, we proceed as usual. If she is let Aunt handle it. You follow my lead. Understood?"

"Understood."

"What's with the shivers? Pull it together you're a grownup now."

"Grownup?"

"Sure you are. You've already slept with a woman, haven't you?"

She pressed his shoulders hard; he finally steadied. Aunt told Beigong to keep singing and took Qi down to the parking lot.

Minutes later, sirens blared from afar. Aunt swore: "Are they pigs? Making a scene like that might as well announce the raid! They don't run sirens when they're actually grabbing people. Who's leading what are they doing?"

Qi was calmer: "The soundproofing is good; in a room, they can't hear outside. I doubt they'll be alerted."

Soon three cruisers rolled in. Aunt tugged Qi forward to meet them.

The leading officer was tall and striking, reminding Qi of a stoic action hero. Aunt, however, looked almost hesitant. He recognized her and nodded with a smile. "Li Jingyi what you called in, it's legit?"

Aunt normally bold suddenly turned coy. "I I didn't see it. He did my nephew…" She tucked behind Qi and pushed him forward.

The officer didn't dismiss Qi for his age. He even gave a respectful nod before asking for details. "You noticed incidentally from the stairwell? Got it. Which door?" After confirming, he signaled his team.

Aunt jogged after him, "Brother Jianfeng, how come you're leading? Aren't you in Criminal?"

"Just got back from Guangxi. Reporting to the brass when Zhao got your tip-off." He glanced back. "Li Jingyi, change that habit. Call the hotline; don't dial people directly. The leaders were in the room you're making Team Zhao look bad."

Aunt stuck out her tongue behind his back. He didn't notice, continuing, "I'd finished reporting. Heard it was your tip, so I volunteered to lead."

Aunt quickly made her request: "When you open the door, can my nephew and I step in first?"

"Why?"

"He thinks someone he knows might be inside. So…"

Surprisingly, the officer was flexible. "Group obscenity isn't a heavy charge. You're at the Cultural Bureau brought your enforcement credential?"

"Got it."

"Fine. You flash your badge and enter as cultural enforcement. We'll wait at the door until you call us. If you need to pull people, do it fast don't linger. I don't mind, but the other guys will."

Aunt grinned. "Knew you'd be cool, Brother Jianfeng."

With the police at her back, Aunt was all swagger. They gathered at the odd room's door. Aunt kicked it open and charged in, credentials in hand. Qi followed.

The moment she entered, Aunt screamed and bolted back out, retching into a trash bin in the corridor.

The police surged in. Qi stood frozen in the room.

Inside, the trench-coat man sat in a corner, staring at Qi and the police in shock. On the sofa: one person was bare-chested and naked from the waist down, lying face-down; a second was fully naked, lying on the first; a third, also fully naked, knelt behind the second. On the table and floor lay crumpled foil and white powder.

It was a "wild and filthy" scene. But neither Qi nor the officers had any physiological reaction because all four in the room were men.

The trench-coat man scrambled up. "W-what are you doing?" The trio on the sofa flailed for clothing, panicking.

The officer called "Brother Jianfeng" calmly displayed his ID and documents. "We received a report of group obscenity, and you appear to be involved in narcotics as well. Get dressed; you're coming with us to explain."

Soon all four including trench-coat were escorted out. Brother Jianfeng was the last to leave. Seeing Qi still stunned, he laid a hand on his shoulder. "You did the right thing. If you see this kind of thing again, call it in." Then to Aunt in the hall, half-teasing: "Li Jingyi first time seeing something this 'spicy'? Quite a rare show. Did you get an eyeful? Oh anyone familiar among the four?"

Aunt spat several times. "How could we know such people? My nephew must have been mistaken."

He smiled and led his team out.

News spread fast. Guests crowded the corridors, buzzing with gossip. Aunt, tugging Qi, slipped back to their room.

Shaken, she failed to notice what Qi saw as they passed: not far away, standing at another door, was Mom, like any other curious patron, asking staff what had happened.

Back inside, Beigong rushed to ask. Finding a bit of safety in the familiar environment, Aunt retold the scene to her.

Qi sat to the side. He had seen Mom, but decided not to tell Aunt his "sixth sense" had misled him enough. Better not stir chaos again.

Aunt's mood was shot. After recounting it, she lost interest in singing, called for the bill, and led them downstairs.

In the parking lot, Qi pulled Aunt aside. "Take Beigong back to rest. I'll go home alone."

Aunt seemed to have expected it. She pouted, a little unwilling: "I know can't do much with that girl here." She pinched Qi's cheek playfully. "If you'd found another woman, Aunt would be jealous but this girl's alright. Aunt likes her."

Qi didn't know how to explain and let her imagination run.
