Erick was an orphan who worked in a factory for nearly half a day, earning ten dollars an hour. He lived alone in an old, shabby apartment and had no family to support him.
Year 2015,
As always, Erick returned home late at night from work. Exhausted, he first took a shower and then jumped straight onto the bed.
He muttered to himself, "Shit, how long do I have to live this miserable life?"
Saying that, he switched on the TV and started searching for a movie to watch. After a while, he sighed and said, "I've pretty much seen all the movies out there so far."
Erick, being an orphan, often felt lonely, and the only thing that helped him escape that loneliness was watching movies. Since childhood, he had developed a habit of watching a movie almost every other day.
After watching a film until 11 pm, he said to himself, "Alright, that's enough, it's time for some sleep," and he quietly drifted into slumber.
The following day, he got up early in the morning, took a shower, had some bread for breakfast, and headed to work.
He took a bus to reach the factory. Upon arriving, he quickly greeted his supervisors and senior colleagues.
Afterward, he began his work but soon felt exhausted. He approached his senior and asked, "Sir, may I take a thirty-minute break, please?"
His senior, noticing him work diligently, responded, "That's fine, but please return as soon as possible. There is a lot of work to be done."
Erick quickly exited the factory and said to himself, "Let's go to the nearby café and have some snacks."
As he made his way to the café, he reflected on his future and thought to himself, "I need to find a way to escape this miserable life. If things continue like this, I will end up being a nobody." He then entered the café and ordered a coffee.
After finishing his drink, he exited the cafe and headed back to the factory. Just then, he heard a girl crying.
"sob"..
"sob"..
He paused briefly, noticing a young girl lying on the road with a bruised leg.
He saw a truck speeding towards the girl and, without a second thought, his heart pounding with fear, he rushed over to save her.
He dashed forward, pushing the girl ahead of him as the truck passed just inches away. Once he quickly regained his footing, he asked the girl, "Hey kid, are you okay? Let me help you." He assisted her in standing up and crossing the road safely.
Suddenly, he heard a voice. He looked sideways, searching for its source.
**Ding! System Activated...**
There was a system window floating in front of him.
**Ultimate System Activated!**
"Congratulations on initiating the ultimate system".
"Host, I am committed to assisting you in achieving your highest goals and aspirations."
Erick stood frozen, his eyes wide with disbelief as a glowing screen floated seamlessly in front of him. A whirlwind of thoughts raced through his mind, leaving him unsure of what was happening.
He was so shocked that he didn't realize he still hadn't crossed the road.
Just as he regained his senses, he was struck by a car.
His consciousness was slowly fading.....
He saw a few people gather around him, and after a few moments, he shut his eyes completely.
His past memories flooded through his mind. He felt emotional because he realized his life had truly been miserable, and he couldn't change it.
After a few moments, everything went dark......
