Jack and Enzo were lying on the ground, exhausted.
Overseer: You barely made it in time, huh.
Enzo: Yeah, says the guy who tried to shut the gate on us.
The Overseer smiled.
Overseer: Come on, I was just trying to add some fun. Anyway, let me introduce myself—to you two and to everyone here. My name is Rick Deathclaw. Nice to meet you.
Rick Deathclaw – Appearance: White and gray mixed hair, height 1.87 m, currently wearing white, age 52.
Assistant Overseer: Even if you know his name, you will still address him as Overseer.
Jack: Wow, looks like there's a strict overseer too.
The Assistant Overseer got slightly irritated.
Assistant Overseer: (Lightly angry) I'll show you what "strict" really means!
Rick: Instead, I'll do the introduction. This is Vals Moonspirit.
Vals: (Slightly annoyed) Nice to meet you!
Vals Moonspirit – Appearance: Green hair, height 1.84 m, currently wearing white, age 32.
All the participants stepped back slightly.
Rick: HAHAHA!? Looks like today's entrance exam is going to be fun.
Jack: By the way, Enzo…
Enzo looked at Jack.
Enzo: What is it?
Jack: How did you pull those knives out of nowhere?
Enzo smiled faintly.
Enzo: Were you that curious?
Enzo raised his hands, and a golden-colored energy spread around them.
Jack: Whoa!
Suddenly, the twin daggers spun through the air and settled perfectly into Enzo's hands.
Enzo: These are my special weapons—part of my Technique.
Every Guardian has a unique power. We call them Techniques. A Technique differs from one Guardian to another: some bend things, control them, weaponize them, and so on. They are powered by energy, and only Guardians can wield it. For Guardians, this energy is vital to their existence.
Jack: That's insanely cool.
Enzo: Right? Haha!
Rick and Vals both hit them on the head.
Rick: You two seem to have forgotten there's an exam.
Jack and Enzo: (Sinking into the ground) Ouch…
