ROXANNA.
My right foot ached deep to the bone.
It felt like there was no flesh left to protect it anymore. The pain came from all the stress I had carried these past few days.
Ever since the elders of Zazubat found out that I was a dragon, my life had turned into a nightmare. Every day felt like a fight to survive the next. I kept praying that I would make it through another morning.
"There you are," Zane's voice pulled me out of my thoughts, and I looked up at him.
I had called him about an hour ago, and he promised to come. So I waited, hoping he would not forget me.
"Thank you for coming," I said as I stood up from the floor. I wanted to hug him, but I stopped myself. It would be stupid, even if it felt right.
If he touched me, he might feel something strange. He could expose me.
So I stayed safe. I smiled and tried to sound normal. "What would I do in this academy without you?"
