Chapter 559: Sir, I'm a Law-Abiding Citizen!
A hundred-odd howling pirates burst out of a passageway. Kian gathered a psychic shockwave in his hand and flung it down the passage.
The pirates in that passage were hit like they'd been run over by a dump truck. The ones in front were torn apart, and the ones behind went flying back and crashed to the floor with shattered bones.
A three-metre bio-augmented cyborg burst out of a corner. It was clad in heavy armour and carried a huge steel axe, and it charged at Kian with a roar!
Kian raised his arm cannons and fired several short bursts at the cyborg.
But the armour on the cyborg's chest was too hard. The lasrifles couldn't penetrate it.
It took Kian's fire, charged up to him, raised its great axe high, and brought it down on his head!
Kian casually drew the power sword at his hip, switched on the disruption field, and cut the cyborg in half at the waist with one stroke!
A pirate with a fuel tank on his back crept up behind Kian, raised his flamer, and blasted Kian with a jet of promethium hot enough to melt steel!
Kian whirled around and threw up a psychic shield in front of him.
The steel-melting promethium jet hit the psychic shield and split off to either side like a forked piss stream.
Then Kian hurled his adamantium shield. It slammed into the flamer pirate's chest and cut him in two!
On the pirate ship's bridge, Captain Greyhide and his senior officers watched Kian rampaging through the bridge bastion on the cameras, their eyes wide.
The terrifying firepower, the insane reflexes, the psychic spells he threw around like nothing, one man killing hundreds: it left them completely stunned!
"It's over, it's over! Why the hell is there an Astartes on that ship! It's over, it's over, it's over!!"
Greyhide was screaming in terror. He didn't care about becoming any pirate overlord anymore. All he could think about was staying alive.
Just then, something began slamming against the bridge's steel doors.
BOOM!
BOOM!!
BOOM!!!
The pounding felt like it was going off inside every pirate's skull!
Cold sweat broke out on every pirate on the bridge. Each of them drew a weapon and aimed it at the steel doors!
BOOM!!!
BOOM!!!
BOOM!!!
The pounding outside the steel doors went on a while longer, then suddenly stopped.
For a moment the bridge was quiet again. The pirates looked at each other, and one of them said:
"Our doors are this thick. That monster can't get in, right?"
But the next instant, a power sword crackling with blue light suddenly stabbed in through the seam between the steel doors and sliced from top to bottom!
With a burst of shrieking metal, the steel locking bolts in the middle of the doors were brutally cut through!
Then a pair of power-armoured hands dug into the seam and wrenched the doors apart.
The doors' hydraulics groaned under the strain as the steel doors were forced open a crack, revealing a power-armoured helm.
"Uncle Old Fart Kian's here~~"
"AAAAAAAAAH!!!"
The pirates on the bridge screamed in terror and fired every weapon they had at the helmet in the gap.
But how could light weapons like theirs hurt heavy power armour?
Kian heaved and threw the steel doors all the way open.
He strode onto the bridge. With the pirate officers firing their light weapons at him, he didn't shoot back.
There was too much vital electronic equipment on the bridge, and he'd hate to wreck it. So he drew the power sword at his hip, charged in, and cut them down one by one!
But he made a point of not killing Captain Greyhide, who looked like the biggest and burliest of them. Everyone else he wiped out.
Captain Greyhide had a laspistol in his hand and kept firing at Kian.
When Kian had cut down the last officer on the bridge, he turned around and looked at Greyhide.
The hand Greyhide held the laspistol in was shaking and shaking.
Kian walked over and slapped Greyhide's hand. The hand holding the laspistol snapped, and Greyhide screamed and fell to the floor.
Kian grabbed him by the collar, hauled him up, and looked him over.
He saw clear signs of corruption on the man and had already sentenced him to death in his heart. But for now, he was still useful.
Kian dragged Greyhide over to the central console, dropped him into a seat, and pointed at the microphone.
"Order your forces to stop attacking and surrender, right now!"
Greyhide glared at Kian, his eyes full of defiance and venom.
He knew someone like him, with Warp corruption in his body, was dead either way if the Angels got him. So he decided he might as well go down swinging.
"Lackey of the Corpse-Emperor, never!!"
Kian whistled.
"Ooh, a true believer in the Warp!"
That was exactly how Greyhide saw it. He might not last a single round against Kian, but his body had received a Warp blessing.
Against mortals, he could take ten at once!
He knew a little about the Warp. If he died defiantly enough, maybe some Chaos God would take notice of him, and even if he was killed, he might be brought back!
So now, facing Kian's threat, his eyes were as resolute as a man about to ascend to daemonhood!
Seeing how resolute he was, Kian decided to test just how pure his devotion to Chaos really was!
He took a syringe out of a small compartment in his power armour. The syringe was filled with sanctified oil.
As everyone knows, the Emperor's power and the Chaos Gods' power are like fire and water. When they touch, it comes down to which one is purer.
The purer one completely destroys the weaker one!
Kian grabbed Greyhide's arm and stuck the needle into a vein.
"If you can take a 300cc IV of sanctified oil, I'll fucking spare your life!"
But Kian had only pushed in 3cc when Greyhide's beastlike, Chaos-tainted eyes blazed with golden light, as resolute as a man about to join the Custodes.
"Wait, wait! I'll order the surrender right now!"
He hurriedly grabbed the microphone on the console and ordered every pirate on the ship, and all the boarders who'd landed on the Sword-class escort, to surrender where they stood!
He even worked the console to shut the torpedo tubes and seal the hatches between the passageways, splitting the pirates inside the ship into several separate spaces and physically cutting off any chance of resistance.
Greyhide looked up at Kian, desperate to please.
"Imperial army (the Emperor's, that is), how's that? Good enough?"
Kian pulled the needle out of his arm and nodded in satisfaction.
"Yoshi! You're a very good citizen! The Imperial army (the Emperor's, that is) won't forget you!"
Greyhide bowed and scraped, all fawning, without a trace of his earlier defiance.
He couldn't help it. When Kian pushed those 3cc of sanctified oil into his vein, he'd felt like his very soul was about to catch fire!
That kind of pain was beyond anything a human could resist.
As the saying goes: one jab to the vein, and the Chaos soul's gone. "Sir, I've been Imperial all along!"
