Nico opened the door to Don Cassian's office.
His eyes were what nightmares were made of—ice and fire, and filled with secrets no one wanted to know.
He looked from Ginerva to me.
Almost one year; the fucking calendar was going to make a circle, and we still barely ever spoke.
"Shouldn't you be doing your job?"
Like I needed a to-do list to remind me.
I didn't miss the annoyed edge in his tone.
The images from downstairs came back with a vengeance.
"I think you're the one who needs a proper work description, because this is part of my job, Nicolas."
Nico glared, his eyes blazing as he stepped forward.
"I didn't realize you needed to get fired to figure out what your job role was," he responded, then shifted his gaze to Ginerva.
The son of a bitch!
"Come in."
Ginerva walked into the office, stopped beside Nico, and sent me a mocking grin.
Like Mila, I hated this woman.
