Chapter 116 - SURVIVAL 36: PROMISE part 2

The weather tonight coincides with how Heavien feels. She is troubled about why Brenille is taking so long. She doesn't want to think about it, but maybe Jecko attacked him outside. She's getting a hunch. She was forced to recover her memories of the comics, but it was futile. What's the use of her brain when she can't remember the things she's supposed to recall? This is getting annoying.

"Oh, sh*t!" Trake exclaimed.

He sat up from lying down and picked up the clock on the table. She also glanced at the clock and...

"Brenille!" Her eyes widened at the sight.

The hands of the clock are now aligned to the number 3! Trake held his hand out to her, and they ran out of the mansion. No, no, no. At number 3, the hands meet, meaning Brenille (3rd)...

"Let's shout so we can find Brenille," she suggested to Trake, so that they'll find him faster. "Bren-mm!"

She staggered when Trake covered her mouth. "Shh, don't yell." He slowly removed his hand from covering her mouth.

"Why?" She whispered, asking him out of confusion.

"It's all right. We'll look for Brenille quietly. As much as possible, let's not make any noise that would attract unwanted attention."

Heavien just nodded because his eyes were warning her as if to indicate that she shouldn't ask too many questions. She thinks he was keeping her safe so that Jecko wouldn't track them down and might attack them. If her suspicion is correct... Jecko has something to do with Brenille's disappearance. They slowly walked to the side of the mansion. It is dark, and only the moon gives them light. There were trees all around, so if they hid, they wouldn't be very visible.

"What a timing" – Trake

All of a sudden, it misted and then rained quite heavily. They had no choice but to let the raindrops pour on them so they could find Brenille.

"Everything okay?" Trake checked her with his flat, wet red hair.

She nodded.

"It's better if you go back inside. I'll look for Brenille."

She shook her head. "No, I can do this, as long as I'm with you."

"Okay, just be careful."

Trake walked ahead of her while holding her right hand to guide her. She looks around in case she sees Brenille when there's a figure of a person and...

*tskg*

She stepped on a tree branch. Trake turned to her. Abruptly, her heartbeat picked up, and she alerted herself. She felt like she saw a human shadow, so she didn't pay attention to where she was going and stepped on a branch.

"Trake? I think I saw something," she called him.

"Let's go!" Trake pulled her all of a sudden. They ran together. She was puzzled by his actions. Did he also see what she saw?

The rain got heavier, which added to the terror of what she felt now. It is getting muddy. They are running until... she saw two human silhouettes. They stood about twenty meters away from them. The person on the right is just standing straight, but the person on the left is... Its hand rests on the chest of the person on the right. When the person on the left pressed the chest of the person on the right, he turned his hand. Just from the shadow of the person on the left... She already knew who it was.

"Let go of me." She ordered Trake. "Cy, come on!"

She pulled away her hand he was holding, but he held onto it tightly. "I said, let go!"

Heavien withdrew her right hand from the grip of Trake's left hand. Even though she wasn't looking into his eyes, she could see that he was worried about what she was doing... but she is aware that he understands her. Although he was surprised by her behavior, she was also concerned when she raised her voice to him.

Simultaneously with the heavy rain falling on her face were her tears that no one could notice because it was raining and dark. They had silence. They still have a long way to go since she saw the two shadows that petrify her whole being.

"Why didn't you tell me?" She questioned Trake without meeting his eyes.

She can see in her peripheral vision that he lowered his head.

"I know you'll be hurt."

"Is that what you mean by the promise you made me do earlier?"

"You can think of it that way."

She twitched at his answer.

Heavien got mad with Trake because he kept it a secret from her. She can't really blame him because maybe she will do to the same thing to the person who's important to her. Somehow, she is pleased with Trake's honesty when she asks him.

Her hands became numb with what she figured out. Because of the intensity of her emotions, she ran.

"Cy!"

She knew Trake would just chase her and stop what she was planning. Although she was scared because of what she found out, she dared herself to face the truth behind the killing of the people who are important to her. She has to hold herself back so she could confront him and ask why he was doing this. There are other things she found out, but there are things that remain unclear.

Heavien gasped as she stood glaring at the person in front of her now. They are about three meters away from each other. He turned to her while holding the bloody little knife in his left hand. The expression of the eyes staring at her is blank, with only a face visible in the light from the full moon. His hair flattened out due to the rain that drenched his uniform. There was a splash of blood on his left cheek. He wiped it with the back of his right hand. She saw the corpse lying on the side, lifeless.

Brenille is dead.

"Venus," he called. No certain tone, but a deep voice. He's glaring at her intensely.

"Mercury," she now spoke without a flat tone in her voice.

"Cy!" Trake approached her, and he also glared at the boy she called Mercury.

"Nice meeting you again," Mercury replied. She couldn't read his expression now.

For a moment, there was silence.

She gulped first to gain the courage to talk to him. "Why are you doing this? What has gotten into you, L-Leonthan…"
