Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Apocalypse??

Chapter 1: Apocalypse??

---

"Where am I??"

Ethan groaned as he slowly got off the bed he was lying on.

His head hurt like hell.

The room was dark, but he could still see.

He looked around the room and found that it was not his room.

He tried to turn on the lamp beside the bed but found it didn't work.

"No electricity?" He muttered.

His mind was still foggy, but he remembered he was in his office.

He probably had fallen asleep due to overwork and lack of sleep.

It was really hard to work 8 hours and have to work 2 more part-time jobs to take care of his family.

Ethan slowly walked to the window near the bed, opened the window, and looked out.

The scene outside stunned him.

"What the hell?" Those were the only words that could describe the scenes outside.

It was like hell had descended.

The road was full of abandoned cars and other vehicles.

Blood had painted the ground red, and zombies filled the road.

"Wait... Zombies, wtf"

"Everything was fine just some time ago"

After some time, he calms down, and a smile is on his face.

"Ohhhhh boy, I had waited a long time for this".

--

- 5 minutes later -

Ethan searched the room and found a baseball bat and a pair of scissors.

He also checked the date and time on the phone that was on the bedside table, and sure enough, he found that he was 6 years in the past, 2020 to be exact.

By this he confirmed that he was probably in a different or a parallel world.

He was a hardcore anime, manga and webnovel fan so concept such as time travel and Isekai were familiar to him.

He was also a big fan of apocalyptic novels and movie especially zombie survival ones.

Ethan also found that the body he was in was not his own.

He still had black hair and deep black eyes; he was around 6 ft tall and had a pretty good physique.

An overall improvement from being 5'6.

He didn't have abs but had some muscle.

His physique was more for flexibility and stamina than raw power.

Now for the current problem at hand, he was probably sure that there was a zombie behind the door of the room.

How, you may ask, cuz that mf is letting out guttural groans behind the door.

If he were to follow the web novel trend, then he should have a system, but he hadn't gotten any system notification till now.

Getting up from the bed again, he bent down and tried to get the zombies exact location from the gap of the door.

"Can't see shit" he muttered to himself.

"At least I can confirm that it is not exactly behind the door"

Ethan started to wonder what he should do.

He could only hear one zombie, but there could be more than one.

He didn't know if it was the walking dead type of slow walkers, the World War Z type of Usain Bolt zombies, or even worse, the rage virus type zombies.

Furthermore, he had too little information on how the infection spreads.

Even if there was only one zombie, he was no Leon S. Kennedy.

His name was Ethan Summers, not Ethan Winters.

A single zombie might be enough to put him out of his misery.

Weighing his opinion, he made a decision.

It was better to go out and fight while he was at his best; if he waited and got too weak or hungry, it would just drop his chance of survival.

Worst case, he would just run back here.

Thinking this, Ethan slowly turned the doorknob and opened the door.

Creak!

With a creaking noise, the door opened.

The door was a push door from his side inside the room, so it was much easier for him to close the door if something went wrong.

He peeked his head out and didn't see any zombies.

With the bat in hand, he slowly walked out of the room.

This room was much more spacious; it looked like a living room, and on the left side, he could see a kitchen.

A bit away from the kitchen, there was another door that most likely led outside to the hallway of the apartment building he was in.

Grrrhhh!

He heard a guttural groan coming from behind the large sofa.

He clutched his bat tighter and slowly approached the sofa.

He reached the sofa and slowly looked behind it.

The view he saw almost made him want to vomit.

A zombie was eating someone.

Ethan was standing right behind the zombie, so it didn't notice him.

The corpses it was eating could not even be identified.

It looked to be a female, but it was hard to tell.

Its stomach was torn open, guts and intestines scattered all over the floor.

The face was eaten till the skull could be seen.

The corpse was already rotting and flies were buzzing around it.

The smell coming from the corpse was enough to make people vomit.

The only sound in the room was the sound of the zombie chewing the guts of the corpse and its occasional growns and moans.

Ethan quickly snapped out of his stupor and raised his bat high.

"Only one chance, Ethan; don't mess this up"He he said to himself.

With a sudden motion, he slammed his bat onto the zombie's head.

Smack!!

Crack!!

A large cracking sound resonated in the quiet room.

The skull of the zombie cracked with the force of the bat.

The zombie fell on the corpse motionless.

Just to confirm the kill, he stuck the zombie again.

Smack!

Smack!

After he finally believed the zombie was really dead, he stopped.

"No dead in the living room, bitch" he joked to himself.

After searching the living room and kitchen and confirming that the place was safe, he finally calmed down.

"That was one hell of an experience."
