In the morning, Tsushima Kagami got out of bed and came to the living room. He saw that Shimizu Nayotake was already seated at the dining table, nibbling on a sandwich bit by bit, while Yukinoshita Shizuku was at the kitchen counter preparing today's bentos.
"Morning, Shizuku, and you too, Shimizu-san."
"Morning," Yukinoshita Shizuku responded while continuing her prep work.
Shimizu Nayotake simply gave a slight nod in Tsushima Kagami's direction.
After greeting the two of them, Tsushima Kagami also sat down, picked up the sandwich already prepared in front of him, and began to eat.
"Eh? I feel like today's sandwich tastes better than usual."
Realizing after just one bite that the flavor was different from the norm, Tsushima Kagami looked up at Yukinoshita Shizuku.
"Because you always say the usual toast is too sweet. Since you have money now, I switched to a better brand that isn't as sweet."
Only then did Tsushima Kagami react. The taste of the toast today was closer to the original flavor of bread, unlike the previous toast which was always overly sweet.
"I also switched the cheese slices to a better brand."
Tsushima Kagami looked at the sandwich. Sandwiched between the tomato slices and lettuce leaves were golden, tender scrambled eggs and cheese that had been melted by the eggs' heat.
One bite confirmed that the rich aroma of the cheese was indeed much more intense than before.
"It would be perfect if there were ham slices."
Tsushima Kagami offered a suggestion halfway through his meal.
"Isn't there some right there? You just won't eat it."
Yukinoshita Shizuku pouted and gestured, and Tsushima Kagami followed her gaze to a tin of canned ham beside the kitchen counter.
"Eh, I don't want that kind of ham."
"I want ham sausage."
"Didn't you say the ones I bought for you a few days ago weren't good either?"
After speaking, Yukinoshita Shizuku glanced at the several bags of ham sausages in different flavors and brands sitting on the fridge.
Tsushima Kagami followed her gaze as well.
"Those aren't good either."
In truth, what Tsushima Kagami wanted to eat was ham sausage like the 'Wang Zhong Wang' brand. Unfortunately, at this point in time, 'Wang Zhong Wang' had likely just been founded. He didn't like any of the brands bought from the nearby convenience stores.
"Honestly... you're usually someone who doesn't care about anything."
"Why are you so troublesome as soon as it comes to food?"
Yukinoshita Shizuku complained as she packed the prepared food into bento boxes.
"As the saying goes, 'A year's plan starts with spring, and a day's plan starts with the morning.'"
"A beautiful day starts with breakfast. If breakfast can't satisfy the stomach, the mood will be very bad. And if the mood is bad, the whole day will feel terrible."
Tsushima Kagami finished the last bite of his sandwich and looked at Shimizu Nayotake with a smile.
"You think so too, right, Shimizu-san?"
This time, in addition to a nod of agreement, Shimizu Nayotake also let out a soft "Mn."
"Alright, alright. I'll go to a different supermarket tonight to see if there are any other brands of ham sausage."
"But if you're still not satisfied, I can't buy any more!"
"Every time you taste one and aren't satisfied, you stop eating it. We can't waste food, so it all ends up with me eating it!"
Yukinoshita Shizuku arranged the three bentos neatly on the dining table, then untied her apron and complained to Tsushima Kagami.
"Eh? Then give it to Yukino. She's dying of craving."
"Yukino absolutely cannot eat such high-salt food! It's fine to feed her a tiny bit occasionally, but don't you always feed her the whole stick!"
"And the cheesecake too! I told you a small spoonful is enough, but you insist on giving her half."
"Who asked Yukino to always rub against me and meow so pitifully?"
"Then you should consider Yukino's health too!"
As if hearing her own name, Yukino, who was eating cat food nearby, turned her head after every bite to look confusedly at why Tsushima Kagami and Yukinoshita Shizuku kept calling her.
"Aiya, aiya, Master, stop chanting. I got it."
Tsushima Kagami wiped his mouth, hurriedly got up, and ran back to his room to prepare his things for school.
Yukinoshita Shizuku looked apologetically at Shimizu Nayotake.
"Sorry, it's so noisy so early in the morning."
Shimizu Nayotake managed to squeeze out a faint smile, then shook her head.
...
School, lunchtime.
Seeing that Shimizu Nayotake—who had finally come to school with him and Yukinoshita Shizuku today—was taking out the lunch bento prepared by Yukinoshita Shizuku, Tsushima Kagami prepared to go to the staff office first to find Komoe-sensei.
He didn't know why, but he hadn't run into Komoe-sensei all morning.
"Shimizu-san, you eat first. I'm going out for a walk."
After speaking, Tsushima Kagami left the classroom and arrived at the teachers' staff office.
Just as he entered, he saw a sneaky figure rummaging through the drawers of a desk.
The audacity. How does a cat burglar break into the staff office of Private Ousai to steal things?
"Hey, brother, what are you looking for?"
Tsushima Kagami patted the person on the shoulder.
"Don't make a fuss. I'm looking for cigarettes. Where did my cigarettes get hidden?"
Tsushima Kagami immediately recognized the voice as Hiratsuka Shizuka's.
Just as he was about to tease her further, Hiratsuka Shizuka seemingly suddenly realized she had been caught in the act.
She hurriedly grabbed the hand on her shoulder, turned around with a joint lock to twist his arm, and followed up with a leg sweep.
Tsushima Kagami hit the floor instantly, unable to get up.
Just as he wanted to shout "It's me, it's me," he felt someone riding on top of him.
"Ouch, my waist!"
"It's me! It's me! It's me, brother!"
Hiratsuka Shizuka twisted Tsushima Kagami's arm back and shouted angrily:
"The audacity! You actually dare to burglarize the place while the teachers are in a temporary meeting at noon!"
"And you want to use the 'It's Me' fraud trick to fool me?!"
"The moment I let go, you'll definitely run!"
"Shizuka-chan, it's me! Yukinoshita Kagami!"
Tsushima Kagami finally managed to say his name before he was crushed to the point of breathlessness.
Hiratsuka Shizuka froze as well.
"Huh? It's Kagami-kun?"
Tsushima Kagami turned his head to look at Hiratsuka Shizuka, wanting her to let go.
However, before he could fully turn, his head was pinned to the floor by another hand.
"Brother, don't look back. I am not Hiratsuka Shizuka."
"Ah, no. I am the one who is burglarizing."
Hiratsuka Shizuka suddenly switched to a coarser, deeper voice, even adopting the speech patterns of a bosozoku delinquent girl.
"You wouldn't want to be silenced because you saw my face, right?"
Tsushima Kagami shook his head.
"Then close your eyes and count to sixty, waiting for me to leave!"
Tsushima Kagami nodded.
"Okay, start now!"
Seeing Tsushima Kagami obediently close his eyes and start counting down, Hiratsuka Shizuka hurriedly let go and stood up, hugging the wall as she prepared to flee the office.
Just as Hiratsuka Shizuka turned and was about to sprint out the door, she suddenly felt her ankle being grabbed.
She stumbled right at the start.
"Aiya!"
Hiratsuka Shizuka cried out in pain as she fell to the floor. She then turned her head to look at Tsushima Kagami, who had already stood up and was looking down at her with a beaming smile. She spoke with a hint of resentment:
"Brother, for you to be like this... you're really despicable!"
Tsushima Kagami replied with a smile as well:
"Brother, we're all bros here. Who are we to judge?"
Saying this, Tsushima Kagami pulled Hiratsuka Shizuka up.
While patting the dust off her clothes and rubbing her faintly aching chest, Hiratsuka Shizuka asked:
"Why did you come to the office?"
"I came to find Komoe-sensei."
Tsushima Kagami said as he also patted the dust off himself.
"I should be asking you—why were you being so sneaky in the office?"
Tsushima Kagami retorted with a question of his own.
"Ah, haha. Wasn't I just looking for a cigarette to smoke?"
Hiratsuka Shizuka made a gesture of holding a cigarette.
"But Komoe-sensei's desk isn't in that spot. It's the one next door, right?"
Tsushima Kagami pointed to Tsukuyomi Komoe's workstation.
"Ah, Tsukuyomi-sensei has been carrying her cigarettes on her recently, so that spot is Douraku-sensei's."
"Honestly, I didn't expect Douraku-sensei to pick up bad habits too, carrying cigarettes on her for no reason."
As Hiratsuka Shizuka spoke, she got increasingly angry, pouting as she complained.
At this moment, Tsushima Kagami saw two small figures walk in from the doorway.
