Chapter 1 - Chapter 0 - Unwanted

"If only I could get the big promotion, Sir! I will work harder then any employee you have now." I told him with determination. Thinking back to when I asked Mr. Yoshida about getting a promotion. As I drift off laying in my studio apartment, garbage piled high, thoughts of being alone and unwelcome to this thing we call life. "This is miserable!" As I lay my hand clutching my cellphone across my forehead covering my eyes. "I'm sorry..." a voice whispered into my ear startling me. "Who...what!" Before my eyes a blinding light whisked me away into a white room, in the center a stone table with the most attractive woman I have ever laid eyes on. I walked over, still clutching my phone, taking each step with a weary whisper to it. 'Click, clack!' As my footsteps drew closer. "Please, Mr. Desu, have a seat." She motions towards the chair directly across from her, seemingly to have appeared from thin air, I sat down on it. "Circumstances have placed me in a bind, it seems I grew tired of watching the miserable people of your timeline." She stated as she took a sip of tea. "What do you mean?" I asked with a confused tone. "Well... to get direct to the point, many many worlds are watched over by me, many timeliness and ages in history as well. Yours is riddled with a ever growing greed. Soon it will lead to war, and eventually the eradication of your species. Though we are talking far...far down the road." Still confused I listened in awe of her well mannered explanation "S...so what is it that you want with me?" I asked with a worried tone. "Simply put, I am a Laima, the goddess of fate." She stated while motioning towards the marking on her chest, the marking seemly resembles those of ancient mythology that I seen through books. "God's and Goddesses, I must be dreaming. Wake up Doryu, wake up!" I smacked my cheeks twice. "What is it that you want of me Laima?" I asked. "I would like for you to become a god." She stated as my face grew into one of shock. "Why me? I am a nobody, you saw especially if you watched over earth as you said." In a worried but subtle tone. "You are going to die in precisely one week, I can allow for you to go to heaven, or I can sprout your soul into a god seed." Taking a sip of tea. "After your death, you will have an hour to decide before your soul is claimed by heaven, after that there is nothing I can do for you." She waved her hand amd sent me flying back smacking up against my apartment wall, in the process knocking over a small dead plant amd a photo of an old family vacation. "Damn, that hurt..." as I grabbed my forehead and touched my back. "Oh...make sure you get your affairs together, leave no regrets!" The voice whispered again in my head as I opened a bottle of pain medication for the headache. I lay down as the sun began to set from behind my balcony window. The next day I woke to birds chirping and a faint foggy memory of a dream I had last night. "A week, heh. I wonder how I got this bruise on my back shoulder?" I showered and started to get ready for work. I opened the door of my apartment, picked up a package I ordered the previous day and placed it inside. I then walked down the steps, swung open the door to my apsrtment building and was off to work!
