Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Regret

Uru Hong Jing frowned.

"Trying to win like this is surely tough. I guess I need to try harder!" His aura surged.

Instantaneously, Le Tu and Qiao Yun's expression changed as they perceived the rising power.

The power of an Immortal Gu surged through like tides.

But it did not stop there.

One, two, three Immortal Gu's were joined together in a complicated Killer Move.

The image of 64 ocular globes appeared, surrounding his body like a Formation from which power emerged.

Qiao Yun raised his index and middle finger shooting from them intense rays of light, but their strength was too lacking.

They bounced away, unable to leave a dent in his defenses.

Those eyes whose veins were stretched, suddenly closed themselves.

[Turn an Eye Blind]

Qiao Yun let out a scream, his eyes were bulging.

He touched them panicked.

He felt a sharp sense of pain, as if his two eyes were being pulled by an invisible force, like a pair of fingers were ripping apart his very eyes.

Those eyes bleed heavily, still, he did not give up.

With all his energy, he tried to fight back against the surging pulse.

And he was winning, however.

Uru Hong Jing would obviously not give him the chance, he let out a scream.

Using the ocular globes, he had summoned before, he shoot several lasers aiming at his body, Qiao Yun was blind, still he was still perceptive enough to detect the pulsing aura.

So, he retreated as far as he could, still due to his blindness he was hit in several places.

Uru Hong Jing approached rapidly, his body flew towards Qiao Yun trying to deliver a fatal blow, but before he could approach.

Le Tu threw several pebbles towards him, which grew like meteors.

Uru Hong Jing frowned; he was forced to retreat backwards.

"What's the matter, you cannot turn yourself intangible again?" He asked coldly, then added.

"Is it that you cannot, because you are putting most of your focus in ruining my friend?" Le Tu said furious.

Uru Hong Jing laughed heartily.

"Indeed!" He stretched his arms widely.

"Against most opponents this would be rather disadvantageous. But, if I am not mistaken, you do not kill, do you?"

Meanwhile.

Kao Dao Ji was sitting calmly into one white cloud.

His mind completely focused in a note he was reading.

"So, the first batch is finally coming?" He muttered, while reading the note that had been sent to him.

"About damn time." He said, standing up from the cloud he was resting at.

His gaze then befell onto his aperture.

"I forgot to consider this but where should I settle the population?" He frowned, observing the ten layers of clouds, as well as the deep sea.

"If they were humans, the best place for building houses would be by creating several ships above the deep sea.

But Featherman have wings, and instinctively know how to use them, thus the chances of somebody falling to their death are quite low, they also lack the innate fear of heights that humans have.

Featherman also have a better heat regulation across their body due to their feathers.

Furthermore, Featherman have a very distinct psyche from those of humans.

Whilst humans vary, they tend to like closed spaces to call their own, well-defined properties and places to rest, with horizontal building, as well as very defined constructions, to separate one family to another.

Featherman are more extroverted, they prefer more high-tall structures where they can show off their ability to fly.

They also do not mind much their privacy, they are far more liberal, even in acts of intimacy.

They are also highly sociable, and what others may call: 'party people.'

Due to their properties, Featherman tend to prefer living in large houses, where dozens of households are.

Large enough for dozens of kids to run and play around, as well as several to practice their flight.

Of course, such places tend to not be conductive to Cultivation, thus they also tend to add 'Meditation Chambers', and the like.

Plus, the usage of some herbs to calm and focus the mind…"

Suddenly he chuckled.

"Now that I think about it; It almost sounds like the whole race has ADHD."

Then he touched his chin, as he added.

"It would be funny if the only thing Featherman lacked to have the same 'spirituality' than humans was a good old methylphenidate."

 He shook his head.

"Maybe I too need some methylphenidate, what a shame that they do not produce it here."

He frowned. Once more disregarding his thoughts, he focused his gaze in the aperture.

His gaze wandered around the 2th and 3th layer of his Aperture.

"The 3th layer of my aperture, is still rather heavy, while not as steady and safe as the first layer, most people can easily walk around without having much trouble, and in the rare cases they fall, they can easily lift themselves up with their wings.

The 2th layer is far more unstable, trying to build in a place with high electricity is rather dangerous. At any time, you risk being struck by lighting and the whole thing falling apart.

But, at the same time the Qi Density there is very high, Cultivating there is bound to have great results."

Upon thinking this, he raised his arms.

Using his powers, he split the 'clouds' in a certain segment, trying to create a safe zone for Featherman to thrive, he expanded the zone craving a large area within his aperture.

He was about to do more, but suddenly.

He heard a buzzing sound.

"Oh, they are here already." Kao Dao Ji muttered somewhat excitedly.

With some effort, he opened the entrance of his aperture.

Revealing its contents outside.

Kao Yu Hun flew towards him.

The two glanced at each other and the man asked.

"The first batch is here, where do I put them?"

Kao Dao Ji pointed his finger at the area he had just carved.

"There."

Kao Yu Hun nodded; his body descended rapidly as he reached the zone.

Once he finally settled.

He stepped in one of the clouds, and let out a soft breath.

His aperture began to shine brightly, it expanded slightly.

While this happened, Kao Dao Ji's eyelids trembled.

Before, when Kao Yu Hun had just appeared he felt that a backpack of 10 lbs was put in his back, not much, something his body could handle very easily. (As long as the backpack did not remain there forever.)

But as he 'expanded' its contents, it felt that the small backpack had suddenly been filled with stones and became a 100 lbs.

While he could resist its effects.

He was not sure for how long.

Thankfully.

The pressure suddenly stopped.

Kao Yu Hun was surrounded by hundreds of figures, all around him.

"Where is our new boss?" A bold Featherman asked.

Kao Dao Ji waved his hand.

"Its me, I am here." He replied calmly, his gaze befalling on that bold Featherman.

The Featherman had a very tall body, and he had thick muscles, and a long beard.

His body looked on his prime, still there were some signs of age, and yet despite this there was a sense of defiance and pride in his gaze.

"I guess he must be someone with a B or C aptitude intending to use me as a way to develop himself to Rank 5?" He thought mildly intrigued, still it was not that bad.

After all, for him it was not that hard to push somebody to Rank 5.

Such Aptitude Enhancing Gu could easily be bought at the cost of one Immortal Essence Stone or less.

Another cheaper method was simply to dilute his own Rank 6 Essence into Peak Rank 5 Essence, then using essence transferring plus Clear Water Gu to cleanse his aperture.

Like this, he could easily in a few hours elevate him to Rank 5.

Of course.

To gain such services he would require to do a huge merit.

The man stared at Kao Dao Ji and pressed his two palms together.

"Sir! I Kao Qian Hangse have long since heard about you, Immortal sage." He bowed down completely.

"Someone with your deep kindness, and grace moved my heart deeply.

Oh, great lord, I pledge myself to you." He obediently but firmly spoke, whilst Kao Dao Ji's eyes shone brightly.

Clearly, he understood how depth his resolve was, after all Featherman were deeply enamored by the very idea of freedom.

To pledge oneself to a master was a very rare thing.

Even if he was not sincere in his words, Featherman tended to value a lot vows and promises, they were almost as valuable as written contracts, for Featherman rarely defied such conventions.

And those who did were shunned by the others, in other words, by pledging himself to him.

He truly was betting huge in him.

"Hah…Hah…Rise up. You do not need to pledge yourself so deeply, as long as you work well, I do not mind giving you a few gifts." Kao Dao Ji replied, he gave him his hand.

And lifted the man up.

Then, he smiled at the rest of the group.

Whose expressions were quite diverse.

A few girls whispered.

"So handsome!"

"Weren't Land Spirits supposed to look like children?"

"Hey do you still think he has, a…You know?"

Kao Dao Ji squinted his eyes at the last phrase.

"Hey seriously? Where is the devotion that people are supposed to have to Immortals, shouldn't you be acting like Qian Hangse?"

Suddenly, his gaze turned towards one of the men who was observing his aperture with deep admiration.

"What a great aperture! Is so big and comfy. Once I become an Immortal, I will turn my whole aperture in a racing ground."

"Hey! In this aperture do they have some alcohol?" A fat old man spoke, his whole body looked stinky as if he had not bathed in days, whilst his wings were grey and atrophied, it was doubtful whether he could still fly or not.

"…"

"…"

"…"

Kao Dao Ji palmed his own forehead.

For a brief moment, he could not help but regret bringing such useless people in his aperture.
