Lyra's POV
On the morning of Destiny, a sharp rapping sound jolted me from sleep at precisely eight o'clock. Poppy remained buried deep under her covers, completely unconscious to the world around her. The first knock barely registered in my drowsy mind, making me wonder if I had imagined the sound entirely. When the second knock came through much more forcefully, my eyelids snapped open with reluctant acknowledgment.
Dragging myself from the warmth of my bed, I shuffled across the cold floor and pulled open the door. What greeted me required several blinks to confirm I wasn't still dreaming.
