The heart break
Elizabeth Jensen had loved Francis with all her heart. For two years, she had believed in their marriage, in the promises he whispered in quiet rooms, and in the life they planned together. But all of that came crashing down one Friday evening.
She had picked up his phone to call him about dinner plans, only to find messages that weren't meant for her eyes. Flirty words, late-night jokes, and a photo of him with another woman smiling at a café. Her chest tightened, and a cold numbness ran through her.
When she confronted him, he tried to explain, to make it sound like a mistake. "It was nothing," he had said. "I love you, Elizabeth. Please don't let this ruin us."
But it wasn't nothing. There had been more messages, more lies, and then came the trips, a weekend he claimed was for work. She discovered the photos hidden in his email: Francis with her colleague, laughing, holding hands, pretending she didn't exist.
The marriage ended the next week. After almost crying herself to death Elizabeth packed her belongings into boxes, her heart heavy but her spirit unbroken. She promised herself she would never let anyone deceive her again.
