Chapter 1 - CHAPTER ONE: FATE THAT MEETS

In a New York city,on a typical Monday dawn which tells of the day feeling you are part of a never-ending commute. The people rushed to and fro on the street, pulsating with energy, having full concentration on their phones.Olivia stepped into the cozy coffee shop on 5th Avenue. The aroma of the coffee enveloped her like a warm hug.She needed one boost to tackle the day ahead, one filled with appointments and deadlines.

As she stood on a wait, her beautiful eyes wandered to one playing his guitar with a soulful tune.Melodies coming out was so beautiful and she get herself being attracted to the rhythm.Stopping the music and see the crowds watched into his case,he catched a gaze of that beautiful Olivia.

Olivia quickly looked away as she felt a flutter in her chest. She took her coffee as it's being offered to her and seat at a small table by the window, trying to control herself from the unexpected reaction. In the coffee shop, was a quiet oasis in the midst of the bustling city.Jazz music floated through the air, which mingled with the hum of conversation and the hiss of steam.

Suddenly to her,she saw the musician appeared beside her, strumming a few cords from his guitar. He took permission from Olivia, then she offered him a seat, though hesitated for a moment before she nodded. He sat down and gave introduction of himself to her.His name was Melvin, which sound like "Melvin",as in,melody matching the rhythm of her heartbeat.

Talking on,their conversation flowed with no effort, touching on everything from music to dreams.Gazing into her two beautiful eyes, she found herself engrossed by his smile. They got buzzed around them by the coffee shop but they got lost in their world.

Time passed by as noticed by Melvin,he said, "I have to go,but I'd love to grab coffee and maybe more with you some other time."

She agreed easily and they shared each other's contact.

"Call me," he said, his smile lingering.

Loving Olivia with that great sense of excitement,he closed the door. She looked at his number on her phone, feeling that spark of possibility. They were walking up,both she and those in the city.Olivia sipped in her coffee, savouring the rich flavour.

She said,"It was going to be a good day."

Lost in thought, she felt that great calm washed over her,the kind feeling she had not experienced in a time past.As time goes, the sound of the coffee shop began to fade into the background, feeling more calm and relaxed.

Arriving at the office,a sleek grass tower in Midtown, she sat down with her mind still wandering back to the experience in the coffee shop with the mysterious musician that got her interested in the first sight. That thought running through her mind over and over again, her phone buzzed with a message from Melvin, read,"hi,it's Melvin. It was a great time talking with you.Desire to grab coffee with you soon."

Seeing the message, her heart skipped some beat. Then typed out a response as her soft beautiful fingers flew across the screen.

"Definitely.When should we?"

A few minutes later,he responded, "how about we do it on Wednesday?"

"Sound perfect,"was her reply with excitement felt within her.

The day running ahead, her meeting with him moved longer than expected of her.As she left the office, the sun set, casting a golden glow over the city.Emily felt that something about her life was about to get that change she wanted, feeling a great sense of possibility.

Reading through their chats over and over, she smiled, feeling the sync up of her heartbeat with Melvin's own.

The adventure was just starting.

As she walked home, she felt alive, like one walking on air.Feeling hopeful having an encounter with Melvin,a feeling she had not experienced in a long time.

A cozy studio in Greenwich village,an apartment of where she lived.Arriving there, the familiar surroundings welcomed her,but her mind was still drawn at the coffee shop, the conversation Melvin and her had relaying in her mind.

She headed to the kitchen to have a nice meal.As she cooked, her thoughts got drifted back to Mevin's music. She hummed the melody, trying to recall the exact notes. What had mesmerized here was the way he played the guitar, his fingers which deftly moved over the strings caught her.

Done with cooking, she snapped back to reality. She ate her dinner, scrolling through her phone, her eyes glanced at Melvin's message.Smile came out of her, feeling that flutter in her heartwarming chest.

Evening came, her mind wandered back to the encounter at the coffee shop and the mysterious musician that spurred her interest up,wondering what it would be like more to hear him play again into her ears,to sit with him again and again surrounded by the sounds of Jazz and the aroma that flowed from coffee.

As night arrived, she felt more excited, crawled into bed,her heart beating with the rhythm of the city and the melody that came from Melvin's music. She drifted off to sleep, putting that beautiful smile on her face and a sense of possibility in her heart.

Feeling refreshed the next morning, she sensed an anticipation building within her.She took her phone, expecting the dropping of a message from Melvin. There was one which was sent a few minutes ago.

It says,"hey,I can't wait to see you on Wednesday.Want to meet at the coffee shop at 2?"

Seeing and reading through the message, her heart skipped a bit, typing a message.

"Sound perfect.See you then"

Not knowing where this new connection would lead to,she summoned the courage to take a chance as she thought that the day ahead was going to be unbearable, getting ready for another encounter.

As she got out of bed, looking outside through the window, she saw the city was already awake with traffic sound blowing and chatter filling the air.She smiled,in sync, feeling her heartbeat and that of the city.

With a deep breath, Olivia stretched and prepared for the day, feeling a quiet excitement humming beneath her calm. The city outside mirrored her emotion, busy, hopeful, and alive. Somewhere within that vast city, Melvin was beginning his day too, unaware that his music had already found a permanent place in her heart. Whatever awaited her next, she knew one thing for certain, which is that her heartbeat would never sound the same again.
