'Local thugs possibly involved in the murder of the countries' minister.' Is the headline of the paper that morning. 'The moon' newspaper to be more specific.
"That news paper's full of shit if you asked me."
Teddy had saw it fit to interview some if not all the locals in that spot about the events that unfolded about a week prior before any of them had arrived.
"It was obviously an inside job." Some speculated.
"How could thugs possible enter a hotel guarded by over 50 guards, half of who are sorcerers? Bull crap I say." Others shunned the idea of the paper being truthful.
"So we've got some saying that the paper isn't true, others are saying its an inside job, and others not giving a shit about that damn minister dying." Teddy had made notes on his phone, "So what do you think?"
Jericho sat on a park bench with her right hand supporting her head. "Uh? I think this case is impossible." She said bluntly, "Can we go home?"
"So what your saying is maybe the local P.D will know something about it." Teddy grabbed her and tossed her onto his shoulder.
"Are we going home?" She asked.
"Yep, we're going to the station." Which wasn't that far away from where they were sited.
The local police department was one of the only in Loliwe to have almost an equal ratio of black to white cops, but of course the head had to be white.
Teddy arrived at the front desk, where a white woman was sited.
"Yes, how may I help you?"
"Um, me and my partner are sorcerers from the Vatican." He took out his card and handed it to the woman who examined it, going so far as to look it up on the computer that was next to her.
"Ah yes, Teddash Williams? You're here with the members of your squad?" She asked.
"Yes ma'am."
"Well then what brings you to the station, I would've assumed that you'd be having more important things to do."
"You'd assume right, but its taking a bit longer than we expected. So me and my partner decided we should help out with the homicide investigation while we're around."
"Oh, let me just…" She handed back his sorcerer license before dialing something on the phone and letting it ring for a moment.
"Um, yes. Chief its secretary Anne, there are some sorcerers from the Vatican here about the minister's homicide… um… yes… I'll let them in right away." She put down the phone. "He says he'd like to see you in his office."
"Of course, were is that?"
"Just turn left over there."
Teddy nodded moving.
"Hey, wait!"Jericho shouted, "Turn around Ted."
He did and now Jericho was face to face with the secretary. "Could you tell me where the bathroom is, I need to pee."
"Sure."
SIX MINUTES LATER.
"Thanks for waiting." She said coming out of the toilet, "I really had to go."
"Well, you did drink 2.5liters of beer."
"True." She wiped her hand with a towel, "Anyway, up please." She gestured by raising both her arms like a baby begging its mother to carry it.
Teddy picked her up and strung her across his back like a sack of potatoes, "Let's go."
"Yep."
KNOCK!
"Yes, come in." Howled the chief.
"Mh." Teddy came in, but the door was way to small for him so he he made it bigger.
BANG!
"Oops, sorry about that." He said looking back at the hole.
"Ha! Ha! That's hilarious." Jericho laughed.
"Um no worries, accidents happen… I guess." The chief was a middle aged man probably in his late thirties with dirty brown hair and brown eyes. "Please have a seat."
Teddy looked at chair the man was pointing at, "No I'm comfortable with just standing."
"Um, sure ok… so I hear you wanna get into the case of the minister."
"Well, yeah we wanna help since were around anyway."
"So the Vatican didn't send you?"
"Nope, we're volunteering. Could be fun, right Iman?"
"What he said." Jericho responded.
'Well if they aren't here… no its not possible, its been 3 days since the minister died I don't think they'd let that slide so easily. These guys must be here to investigate under that pretense so as to see what we're doing about it. Not like we're doing so great, whoever it is has managed to evade us for quiet some time… but I should be careful and just grant them permission anyway.' He thought.
"Of course, we'll supply you with as much equipment and support as we can." Said the chief.
"Thanks, but we'll just be fine with the report on your findings."
"You sure, whoever it was got passed through some of the best sorcerers money could buy, and just between you and me a lot of my people are also going missing."
"I'm glad you're concerned, however, that's an even bigger reason for your people to stay out of it for the next day or two." Teddy explained.
'Day… they intend to solve this in a day? These arrogant assholes, a case that's taken us over a week they think they can solve it within a day?' The chief thought trying to keep his cool, "Are you sure?"
"I'm sure, we are 4 and half star sorcerers, so we should be able to do fairly well."
'Its Ok, just keep your cool, don't blow up in their faces otherwise you'll lose your job.'
"Sure, I'll ask my secretary to give you a copy right away." He got up heading to the phone.
"Thank you, we would appreciate that."
He turned and made his way back through the door, which now accommodate him since he made it bigger.
"Four and a half stars, huh?" He sighed, "Maybe I should have a little more faith in them, but then again faith isn't the problem. "
He took his phone and made a phone call, a very important one.
Meanwhile the duo left the station and stood near the road.
"Hey, I think I've got enough blood rush in my brain now." Jericho announced.
"Really, so your thinking straight?"
"Yeah."
"Cool." He put her down, and standing on her own two feet she stretched.
"So how you wanna go about this, you do know he's plotting on our downfall, right?" Jericho asked.
"Yeah, his bloodlust was suffocating, but I still think we can crack this case in just two days before we leave."
"That's not what I meant."
"Yeah, but my answer remains the same. And also If you were being literal, the best place would probably be asking those thugs if they know anything." Ted suggested.
"Can I beat them up if they refuse to talk?"
"Yeah, but make sure you go easy on them." The two now made their way asking around town.
