Once in a small village, there lived a man named Ravi. Ravi was very silly and a bit lazy. One day, he went to the market and bought ten sheep.
On his way home, he counted them: "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten." He was happy.
He sat under a tree to rest. When he got up, he decided to count them again.
"One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine."
Ravi panicked. "Oh no! One sheep is gone!" he cried.
He ran around looking for the missing sheep. He looked behind the tree, in the bushes, and even inside his own pockets, but he couldn't find it.
He sat down again and counted once more: "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine... only nine!"
Ravi started to cry. "I lost one sheep! Now I only have nine."
A wise man passing by saw Ravi crying. "What is wrong, my friend?" he asked.
"I had ten sheep, but now I only have nine!" said Ravi.
The wise man looked at the sheep, then looked at Ravi. He smiled and said, "Ravi, jump on your horse and I will find your sheep."
Ravi jumped on his horse.
"Now count again," said the wise man.
Ravi counted: "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine... TEN!"
Ravi was confused. "How did it become ten?"
The wise man laughed. "You forgot to count the sheep you were sitting on!"
