Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: Poisoning

As for the other spell, "Heavenly Eye Technique," Han Li, after seeing the impressive power of the "Fireball Technique," had high expectations for it as well. However, after trying it himself, Han Li quickly realized that this technique was nothing more than a simple method of channeling spiritual power into one's eyes. There was no real difficulty to it, and he was able to master it almost instantly.

But as it was easy to use, its effects were also correspondingly modest. The "Heavenly Eye Technique" was a purely auxiliary spell, mainly for observing whether someone possessed spiritual power and how profound it was. Han Li was initially quite excited about using it, and he constantly cast the spell on himself to observe his own body. He saw a faint layer of white light surrounding him, with the light becoming denser the closer it was to his dantian.

This, he thought, was likely the so-called spiritual power. Curious, Han Li reached out and touched the white light, but felt nothing. It seemed that, just like true qi, spiritual power was intangible and invisible. Only under the effects of the "Heavenly Eye Technique" could it be observed.

After using it a few times, however, Han Li lost interest. After all, he was the only semi-cultivator in the entire Seven Xuan Sect—who else could he use it on? He wasn't about to stand there all day staring at himself in self-absorption.

So, besides continuing to practice the "Fireball Technique" and hoping to refine it for actual combat, Han Li shifted his focus to the other spells that he hadn't yet mastered. He began repeating the incantations and practices, hoping for some breakthroughs.

But the difficulty of practicing the other spells made him sigh deeply. Ever since he started practicing magic, he found himself sighing much more often than before.

"Clang—Clang—Clang—" A series of heavy bell rings echoed from outside the valley.

Han Li furrowed his brows. Recently, for some unknown reason, there had been a sudden increase in the number of people coming to him for medical treatment, and many of them were suffering from severe external injuries—severed limbs, sword slashes, and the like.

Not daring to delay, Han Li quickly grabbed his prepared medical kit and rushed out of the house, heading for the valley entrance.

At the edge of the forest outside the valley, Han Li saw a familiar face—a senior disciple of the sect—walking restlessly around the large bell. His anxious pacing made him seem like an ant on a hot pan.

As soon as the disciple saw Han Li, his face lit up. He rushed over excitedly.

"Han Daifu, you're here! My master has been poisoned, and it's looking grim. Please, come quickly and see if you can cure the poison!" The disciple, who was none other than Ma Rong, a favored student of Elder Li, rushed to Han Li.

Han Li recognized him immediately, having met Ma Rong a few times when Elder Li had visited the God's Hand Valley. They were not exactly close, but Han Li could recall his face.

"Poisoned?" Han Li asked, his heart sinking as he quickly followed the disciple. He couldn't help but mutter under his breath, "Damn it... just when I'm dealing with my own poison..."

"Yes, my master was on his way back from a mission when he had a confrontation with a master from the Wild Wolf Gang. During the fight, he was hit with a poisoned dart. At first, he didn't think much of it, and even managed to kill the opponent. But as soon as he returned to the mountain, the poison began to take effect, and he collapsed into a deep unconsciousness," Ma Rong explained as they hurried down the path.

"Have you consulted any other doctors?" Han Li asked, his voice calm, though his mind was racing with concern.

"Of course, we did. If it were just an ordinary poison, I wouldn't have come to trouble you, Han Daifu. The other doctors have identified it as a rare poison, but none of them could figure out how to treat it. They didn't even dare to prescribe any medicine!" Ma Rong's face twisted with disdain, clearly frustrated with the other doctors.

Han Li remained silent, his expression unchanged, but inwardly, he began to worry. To be honest, he wasn't very skilled in detoxifying rare poisons. When it came to treating external injuries, he had some confidence, relying on a few rare herbs and his own knowledge. But when it came to curing powerful and uncommon poisons, he had no idea if his methods would work.

Although he had the "Qingling Powder," a legendary antidote capable of curing all poisons, he couldn't be sure if it would be effective for this particular poison. After all, there were countless kinds of toxins in the world. The other doctors in the sect were far from incompetent; they would certainly have some unique methods for dealing with common poisons. If they couldn't even offer a proper remedy, it meant this poison was truly difficult to cure.

Han Li sighed internally. He had to face this situation head-on. If he couldn't cure the poison, at least he wouldn't lose his reputation—after all, no one could claim to be able to cure every illness. His position in the sect wouldn't suffer too greatly.

As Han Li mulled over the situation, Ma Rong had already dragged him along in a near run, urgently pulling him toward Elder Li's residence. The disciple's eagerness was palpable, and Han Li could tell that the bond between them was very deep.

Han Li couldn't help but feel a twinge of melancholy as he followed. The relationship between him and Mo Daifu had always been strained, a teacher-student relationship that was more adversarial than supportive. If only their bond had been as warm as Ma Rong's with his master.

Deep down, Han Li still held some respect for Mo Daifu. After all, both his medical skills and the Changchun Gong came from Mo Daifu's teachings. But fate had played its hand cruelly, and it seemed that the two of them were never meant to coexist. Their clash had led to Mo Daifu's untimely death, at Han Li's hands no less.

While lost in these thoughts, Han Li was already being led to Elder Li's residence by Ma Rong.
