Voro wiped the sweat off his chin. 2 goblins wasn`t a lot, but still annoying and surprisingly tiring, and since the leather clothes are not great for workouts, sweaty too.
During the process of clearing the goblins he started to notice a pattern, they all had something they shouldn`t have.
Cloth wasn`t leather or primitive fabric but something was taken from this place and used as pants. Their weapons weren`t stones and sticks, but random metal objects.
The goblins couldn`t have made those. Something else must have created this place.
Not that it mattered.
Voro picked up the torch before it went out and started to look around again. With a bit of light the room started to actually feel like a castle, stone carved with precision and wood with remaining ornaments.
Through the same door he invited the goblins through , the corridor changed into low ceiling and many doors type of hallway, with a broken chandelier and weird art carvings on the walls.
'Not human' Voro slowly examined the carving , not making sense of what its supposed to be as it was mostly destroyed or covered in green. So he moved on quickly.
Another flicker of light came through the door in front. Voro froze in place, making slow movements and putting down the torch. Minutes passed as he moved to the wood and peered through it.
Another goblin, alone and facing the other side, some metal spike by his side and munching sound came from him.
Inhale Voro slowly picked out a small knife from his backpack, and grabbed it by the end of the handle, while the left hand went to the door.
Exhale He crashed opened the flimsy door and with his full might and non existent throwing practice, threw the kitchen knife at the goblin.
bonk
His amazing luck managed to actually hit the monster which ran out there. The only damage that was dealt was the handle hitting his head.
The goblin turned around with meat in his mouth and a low grrrowllll coming from him. As Voro started to move into the room ,it ripped the rest of its food from his teeth and grabbed the spike to attack. It did not make it in time, as the other metal weapon in the room crashed into his skull. He hugged the dying goblin grabbing its armed hand to make sure, it died without issues.
Laid down on the floor and bleeding out, Voro examined again.
Nothing really knew, but he did watch for its mouth this time.
'Carnivore' large teeth and developed jaw. Ears larger and eyes with different construction.
The goblin`s spike turned out quite nice. It seemed like another piece of a castle gate, just slightly smaller and sharper and heavier than a knife.
'A bit barbaric but why not' as he hung his trusty utility knife on his belt.
After that many more similar occasions sprouted out.
Some arguing over food. Dead after a good fight.
Others trying to figure out how to get more fire from a torch. Killed from the darkness.
A few were peacefully sleeping alone. and so they died too.
And each of them had some weird tools and scraps with them. Forks and spoons on some, pieces of glass made into primitive daggers and even a stone brick hammer. Small metal bits used as daggers and bigger metal bits as spears. Flags and whatever other fabric there was made into clothing. Weird and unidentified objects used as weird and unidentified tools
---------------
A group of 4 goblins, more like an actual squad, was coming through the halls with torches and cleavers, wooden planks as doors and.... a broom handle. Talking with each other with growls and screeches, they made their way slowly.
Pheeew Zooom shooo random sharp garbage flew towards them : some missed, some hit and did nothing and a whole of 3 managed to injure a leg, an arm and an eye of the goblins. The painful scream filled the corridor as all of they charged to wherever the things came from.
But there was nothing. They angrily searched and looked around but nothing could be found. They pulled out the bits, but when they tried to take out the eye-injuring piece, blood splattered and the goblin felt to the floor, dead.
Shocked by his death the rest prepared defence, spreading away from each other to look and kill the thing as soon as possible. Sklerch the goblin with an small cut on his leg turned around to see his comrade bleeding out on the floor, right next to the first one.
"KRUAGAAHAHA" It screamed on top of its lungs and wildly swinging its blade and torched ran forward. The other one joined his screaming and swinging.
But again, whatever the thing was, it was not here.
Finally they looked up and on the walls hanging from a flag was the thing : covered in leather and with bright skin. Its dark hair waving in the shadows and melting into the darkness. And its eyes. 2 red glowing circles pointed at them.
the goblin trembled.
But only for a while
The thing jumped down and struck 2 metal spikes into one of them, grounding it instantly.
Last goblin felt fear for the first time in years.
He dropped the torch, left his weapon and ran forward.
Not for long ,as the blade struck its back, killing him on the spot.
The thing cleaned its spikes and blades on his clothes and walked away, leaving just a few burning lights and a whole lot of blood. And no traces.
