I was still chanting when the moonstone started spinning in the air. It rose up from the floor slowly at first, then faster and faster until it was hovering right at eye level.
"Keep holding hands," I shouted to Urdon and Freda. "Do not break the circle no matter what happens."
Black smoke started pouring out of the moonstone. Thick oily smoke that stank of death and old blood. It swirled around the cave, forming shapes in the darkness.
Then the smoke gathered together and formed Yolande's shape. She was not solid. Just a shadow made of smoke and hatred. But I could see her face clearly now. Her eyes glowed yellow with rage. Her mouth was twisted in anger.
"You dare," she hissed. "You dare try to trap me like some common spirit. I am Yolande. I am the wronged Luna. I am vengeance itself."
"You are a dead wolf who cannot let go of the past," I said. I kept chanting under my breath even as I spoke. "Your time is over, Yolande. Your revenge ends here."
