I ran into the forest without thinking about where I was going. I just needed to get away from Urdon and his anger and the pack house that felt like it was suffocating me. My bare feet hit the ground hard, and roots and rocks cut into my skin, but I did not stop.
Tears blurred my vision, and I could barely see where I was going. Branches whipped against my arms and face. The cold night air burned my lungs. But I kept running deeper and deeper into the forest until my legs finally gave out.
I fell to my knees in the dirt and sobbed. My whole body shook, and I wrapped my arms around myself, trying to hold the pieces together. Everything hurt. My chest, where the mate bond was breaking. My heart felt like it was being ripped apart. My soul that felt like it was dying slowly.
"I cannot do this anymore," I cried out loud to the empty forest. "I cannot keep fighting when everyone thinks I am crazy."
