Our dear Camilla finally found a way to escape from the building.
Her heart pounded against her ribs as she pushed through the crowd, her eyes darting everywhere. Men in dark suits. They were already everywhere.
She had to get home, to protect Alonzo.
"Reina? Is anything wrong?"
Elena's voice stopped her cold. She was standing by the bus, her face creased with concern.
"Why are you rushing home? Where are you going?"
Camilla's mind raced. She couldn't tell Elena the truth. She couldn't tell anyone her big secret.
"Home. I promised my son I'd be back early. It's late, like you said."
"Oh? Your son. That smart little boy." Elena smiled, her eyes softening. "I'm close to his teachers. They say he's too brilliant. He shouldn't be in such a school. He needs more. He deserves more."
He deserved more. Camilla's throat tightened. She had always known that. And she had failed him.
"Lady, are you getting on or getting off my bus?"
