Cherreads

Chapter 54 - The Final Pokémon, Gardevoir

"Nicely done!! Miss Grace…"

From the referee's stand, Ethan couldn't help but cheer, only to earn a sharp glare from Aaron.

"Dragonair… use it again! Extreme Speed—attack Greninja!!"

Grace's voice carried a trace of excitement, as though she'd regained some confidence. Her tone grew noticeably louder.

A faint smile appeared on Aaron's face as he spoke to Greninja:

"Greninja… we'll use Quick Attack!!"

A white glow burst from Dragonair as it charged straight at Greninja.

At the same time, Greninja's body crackled with light, and the two figures slammed into each other head-on.

"Boom—!"

A thunderous collision rang out. To everyone's shock, Dragonair's long body was sent flying backward by Greninja, pain clearly written across its face.

"What?!"

Grace cried out in disbelief.

Extreme Speed was famed as the fastest move of all.

How could it possibly be intercepted by Greninja's Quick Attack?!

And not only that—the power was actually inferior to Quick Attack?!

The shock left Grace's head buzzing.

"Greninja… Ice Punch! Finish it!!"

Seizing the opening before Dragonair could get back on its feet, Aaron pressed the attack without hesitation.

Greninja let out a low growl as its figure flickered, instantly appearing beside Dragonair.

Its right fist was coated in bone-chilling, icy light as it swung down with ruthless force.

Dragonair didn't even have time to dodge.

—Thud!

"Dragonair…!"

A heavy impact echoed across the field. Dragonair let out a pained cry before collapsing limply to the ground.

It fainted.

"Dragonair!!"

Grace shouted anxiously.

"Dragonair has fainted. Please have Miss Grace send out her next Pokémon!"

Ethan wiped sweat from his brow as he announced the result.

Greninja was simply too strong.

Even just watching from the sidelines, he felt an overwhelming pressure.

Grace's face turned slightly pale as she recalled the injured Dragonair into its Poké Ball.

"You did great, Dragonair!"

"Get some rest."

She gently stroked the Poké Ball in her hand before taking out her final one. Looking straight at Aaron, she said:

"Aaron, you really are strong."

"But I won't give up…"

"This is my last Pokémon!"

"Come out!"

"Gardevoir…"

A flash of light bloomed across the field. A beautiful Pokémon appeared—green hair framing its head, its body draped in a flowing white gown.

It was none other than Gardevoir, the dream Pokémon of countless fans.

...

A flicker of surprise passed through Aaron's eyes. He hadn't expected Grace to be hiding such a powerful Gardevoir.

It was already at the Advanced (Early Stage), possessed Champion-level potential, and knew so many moves they were nearly impossible to count.

You really couldn't underestimate kids from wealthy families.

"Gardevoir… use Meditate."

Grace's expression turned solemn as she gave the command.

"Gardevoir…"

A soft pink glow surged from Gardevoir's body as Meditate took effect, raising both its Special Attack and Special Defense by one stage.

"Greninja… Shadow Sneak."

Aaron's voice followed calmly.

The shadow beneath Greninja suddenly stretched outward, surging toward Gardevoir like a black phantom and striking it directly.

"Hn…"

Gardevoir's body swayed as it forcibly endured the Shadow Sneak.

"Gardevoir, well done!"

Grace shouted immediately.

"Use Draining Kiss!"

Gardevoir's lips glowed with a soft pink light as a wave of energy shot toward Greninja.

Draining Kiss was a Fairy-type move that restored a significant portion of the damage dealt.

Against Greninja, it carried a double-type advantage.
