Chapter 249 - Chapter 237 Turning back into the room

This time, he had come to the Bahamas using one of those passports.

Turning back into the room, Hunter soon retrieved the passport and let the officer check and register it.

The officer didn't stay long; after thanking him and reminding him to try not to go out at night for the next few days, he left.

Watching the officer walk away, Hunter raised an eyebrow.

He knew he needed to clean up his loose ends in the Bahamas and then leave with Shan!

Three days later, at the port of Nassau.

Hunter looked at the port, where there were many more patrol officers than a few days ago.

He knew it must be because he had caused too much of a stir over the past two days.

"Shan, are you really prepared to leave the Bahamas?"

At the dock, the well-liked Shan was chatting with a dark-skinned, yet quite beautiful, policewoman.

The policewoman was named Sophie, a sergeant at the Nassau Police Department.

She had once studied abroad in the United States before returning to her hometown, the Bahamas, to develop her career.

In just a few years, she had already established quite a reputation in the Nassau police force.

Shan and Sophie were friends, and since they ran into each other at the dock, they started chatting.

Shan felt a bit awkward, not knowing how to answer her friend.

In truth, she didn't want to leave the Bahamas, but she didn't know why.

When Hunter first suggested taking her away from the Bahamas temporarily to the Dominican Republic to clear her head...

Shan had realized at the time that it was just a pretext Hunter was using to get her to leave.

Because of that, she hadn't agreed.

But for some reason, after their intimate interaction...

Shan began to waver slightly regarding Hunter's repeated proposal.

And after that, time and time again.

So much so that, a few days later, even though Shan still didn't want to leave the Bahamas, where she had been born and lived for over twenty years...

…she couldn't even explain why, when Hunter proposed taking her away again...

…this time, Shan still didn't explicitly agree, but she didn't refuse either.

Hunter, standing to the side, seemed to notice her predicament and smiled as he took over the conversation.

"Shan hasn't been feeling very well lately, so I invited her to take a cruise to the Dominican Republic for a few days."

Sophie looked Hunter over with interest; the moment she saw this refined and handsome Asian Youth...

…she felt that Shan standing with Hunter was much more fitting than being with her ex-boyfriend, Jared.

No way around it!

Although Jared wasn't bad-looking and could be considered a handsome guy.

But his temper was terrible; he could never hold a job for long. He would either fall out with colleagues, offend tourists, or even do stupid things like hitting the boss or throwing the store manager into the sea.

Sophie had heard that ever since Shan started dating Jared...

…Jared had actually become more decadent, and for over a year, he had been unemployed most of the time.

He had borrowed money from his few friends.

Word was that they had all fallen out with Jared later on.

It was said that he had always relied on Shan's salary to get by and have food on the table.

Therefore, when she heard over the past couple of days that Shan had broken up with Jared...

…and had seemingly gotten together with a Chinese-American youth who had come to the Bahamas for a vacation...

…Sophie felt a bit sad that Shan, known as the Flower of Paradise Island, might be marrying someone from afar.

But she truly felt that Jared, who was full of dreams about treasure hunting, exploration, and getting rich, yet never willing to do actual work, was indeed unworthy of a good woman like Shan!

Therefore, although Sophie didn't know Hunter...

…she had some favorable impression of him for taking Shan out of her misery.

"Then I wish you a pleasant journey."

Sophie actually knew that once Shan left the Bahamas, she might never return in the future.

Still, she offered her blessings.

Shan was very touched. "Thank you!"

She looked at Hunter, her eyes already beginning to show affection.

Ever since meeting Hunter, Shan suddenly felt that the happiness she had sought but never attained was now within reach.

This handsome Asian Youth always treated her with gentleness most of the time.

When she was with him, Shan found that she never seemed to worry about anything else.

Hunter seemed to be able to see through her thoughts; he had never made her sad, embarrassed, or angry.

So much so that even Shan now had some regrets.

Regretting that she had met him too late!

Hunter naturally sensed the change in Shan's gaze.

He smiled slightly at her before asking Sophie: "By the way, Officer Sophie, what exactly happened here?"

"A few days ago, police came to the villa I rented on Paradise Island in the morning, saying that someone had been murdered."

"Over these past few days, the luxury cruise I booked was also delayed by two days before it was ready to depart."

"Looking at this scene, it's like there are police everywhere on the streets."

Shan had spent the past few days basically in the villa.

Because she was exhausted late every night, she spent the next morning catching up on sleep, and in the afternoon, she could at most walk around Paradise Island.

She had just broken up with Jared and didn't want people gossiping.

Therefore, she hadn't really communicated with friends.

So, Shan really didn't know what was happening outside and was very curious.

She couldn't help but look at Sophie, waiting for her answer.

Sophie pursed her lips and hesitated for a moment before saying: "Alright, I shouldn't really be telling you this."

"However, many people have heard some rumors now, and since you are leaving soon, it won't have any impact, so it's fine to tell you."

"Nassau has been very unstable these past few days, with over a dozen homicides occurring in succession."

"Among them are two victims whom you are not unfamiliar with, Shan."

Shan was stunned and hurriedly frowned as she asked: "Who?"

Sophie: "Bryce, Jared's best friend. He was shot to death, and his belongings were all looted. We suspect it was a robbery."

"And the other one is Bates."

Shan's expression changed drastically. Although she wasn't very close to Bryce, she knew he was her ex-boyfriend Jared's best friend.

When she had just returned to the Bahamas, they had hung out a few times.

Although Shan didn't like that guy because he would occasionally stare at her with a look of desire.

But after all, they were considered friends.
