Chapter 36 - Chapter 36

"Kurose Akira-san… today, for some reason, you taste especially delicious~"

Akira pulled off his VR headset, Ivsha's praise still echoing vividly in his mind.

That sultry, honeyed voice lingered in his ears like divine music, making his body shiver involuntarily.

And when he recalled what he had just done—

Desecrating a nun inside a medieval church…

"Forgive me, forgive me!"

Akira sprang to his feet and rushed into the bathroom, desperately scrubbing himself down, hoping the hot water might wash away his sins—

Along with his still-trembling legs.

After showering, he returned to bed, planning to scroll on his phone for a bit before sleeping.

The moment he unlocked the screen, he noticed a new message on WeChat.

"Huh?"

Since Akira wasn't very social, it was rare for anyone to message him late at night. The sudden vibration felt strangely unfamiliar.

Kanai's Bunny: Akira, are you asleep?

It was a message from Liu Xue. He wasn't sure what she needed.

Akira: Not yet. What's up?

Kanai's Bunny: There's an in-game event starting in a few days. If you complete the event tasks, you can get a huge amount of character EXP. Want to team up with me?

"An event? Why didn't I know about this?"

Akira was surprised. He hadn't received any in-game notification at all.

Kanai's Bunny: You didn't get it either? Let me ask in the group.

Akira: Okay.

A few minutes later—

Kanai's Bunny: I checked. There really is an event, but only players with an evaluation below E-rank can participate. It's a newbie welfare event…

Kanai's Bunny: Wait—your player evaluation is E?!

Akira: No!

Akira stared at the screen, utterly confused.

Wasn't his rating always F+?

Could it be because he completed that E-rank commission?

Kanai's Bunny: If you haven't reached E-rank yet, you should be able to join. I'll try inviting you when it opens?

Akira: Sure.

Free experience was free experience—of course he wouldn't refuse.

Still, the fact that he hadn't received any event notification bothered him.

As expected… every game had its share of weird bugs?

Or—

Was this not a bug at all?

"Whatever. Sleep."

Too lazy to think further, Akira tossed his phone aside and drifted into unconsciousness.

Ivsha's influence had already seeped into his real life.

He couldn't escape it anymore.

Elsewhere—

"Xiao-Xue, I'm done. You can use the bathroom now."

"Okay, got it."

Liu Xue lay on her side on the bed, hugging a plush toy tightly to her chest. Her long, pale legs pressed together slightly as she stared intently at her phone.

As if waiting for something.

Minutes passed.

The anticipation slowly faded.

She set the phone aside, buried her face into the plush toy, and only when her cheeks turned warm and flushed did she finally sit up.

She gently peeled off her lace-trimmed white socks and walked toward the bathroom.

The next day.

"Ahh—"

Akira yawned as he arrived at school.

His head felt light and fuzzy, as if his energy had been completely drained. He looked like someone who had seriously overexerted himself.

With some time left before morning self-study—and only a few classmates present—he figured he could sneak in a quick nap.

"Didn't sleep well last night?"

Liu Xue quietly appeared beside him, asking curiously.

"Maybe."

Akira couldn't pinpoint the reason himself and answered vaguely.

"Did you need something?"

"It's about the event. It starts the day after tomorrow. We'll be teleported to a special area, and the final EXP reward is calculated based on how many slimes we kill."

She explained the event conditions carefully.

"Slimes, huh?"

Akira unconsciously imagined their strange, gelatinous texture.

Fortunately, this game's slimes weren't that degenerate.

Only a small number of special slimes could corrode clothing. Most were just round, squishy, low-level monsters.

Weak combat power. Extremely low aggression.

Perfect training targets for beginners.

"Is there a cap?" Akira asked.

"There should be. I think each person can kill up to 100 slimes, but we probably won't hit the limit. The event only lasts an hour."

"So… 200 slimes total?"

Akira did some quick mental math.

That didn't sound like much.

Still, how much EXP would that translate to?

Surely at least tens of thousands, right?

As he pondered this, Liu Xue remained standing beside him, her beautiful eyes fixed on his face.

Not because she liked him—

But because today, Akira felt different.

He radiated an indescribable charm that subtly drew her attention.

No no no—

She shook her head lightly, mocking herself internally.

I'm not some love-brained idiot. Why would I think that?

She quickly turned away and returned to her seat.

After school, Akira rushed straight home as usual.

He put on his VR headset and returned to the game world.

Inside the guild, Ivsha and Loserine were already waiting.

The moment Akira appeared, Ivsha rushed over eagerly, her greedy nature prompting her to demand more "rewards."

She asked—

So he gave.

What else could he do?

"An accessory that adds +1 Luck sells for one silver coin?"

Akira browsed the marketplace, trying to evaluate the value of the Nun's Amulet.

There were no identical items for comparison, but if a +1 Luck candy pendant was worth one silver, then a +5 Luck Nun's Amulet should be worth at least thirty silver coins.

After all, luck-boosting items didn't stack.

The higher the bonus, the more valuable the item.

"Ivsha, have you ever heard the name Idice?"

Akira looked at Ivsha, who was currently enjoying her "meal," and asked curiously.

"Idice? No, my master. I've never heard that name before."

Ivsha shook her head. No recognition at all.

"Really…?"

Akira frowned.

Just who was that wine-red-haired woman?

Maybe Sister Kelly and the others knew something.

Someone like that couldn't possibly exist without leaving traces.

"Akira-san… have you been training recently?"

Ivsha suddenly asked, her tone curious.

"No."

"Really? But I feel like you've gotten stronger lately."

She smiled sweetly.

"And… you're even more delicious~"

She licked her fingertip, pink heart-shaped light flickering in her eyes.

Akira immediately thought of the Pure Lust Magic Idice had bestowed upon him.

Was this its effect?

He didn't fully understand it yet—but it seemed his attraction to succubi had increased.

Probably.

Sniff sniff~

Suddenly, Ivsha leaned closer, her nose twitching like a curious puppy as she sniffed him.

"What's wrong?"

Akira froze, confused by her behavior.

Ivsha didn't answer.

She continued sniffing every inch of him, until she finally stopped at the faintly shimmering Holy Light.

Her voice dropped to a whisper.

"My master…"

"Why does your body carry the scent of another succubus?"
