Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3

Reception Area, Adventurer Guild

Raeshan spent the next hour slowly familiarizing himself with the reception area, quietly observing how the other receptionists worked and how adventurers moved in and out of the counters.

Before long, a senior receptionist approached him.

She was a composed woman in her late thirties, with brown hair neatly tied back and sharp eyes that seemed to miss nothing.

Her name was Mira, one of the most experienced receptionists in River Town.

She had been working at the Adventurer Guild for over sixteen years and was highly knowledgeable about guild affairs.

"Come with me," Mira said calmly.

"I'll introduce you properly and explain your responsibilities in detail."

Her expression remained professional, though deep down she couldn't help appreciating the handsome young man in front of her.

"Yes, ma'am," Raeshan replied.

He stood up and followed her deeper into the staff area.

"This branch has seven receptionists in total, including you," Mira explained as they walked.

"Three men and four women. River Town isn't a capital city, but we stay busy. Adventurers from neighboring towns often come here to explore the Blue Mist Forest, so traffic is always good."

Raeshan listened attentively and nodded, carefully memorizing her words.

She gestured toward a quiet man carefully organizing stacks of documents.

"That's Toren. He handles record archives and long-term quest storage. If paperwork ever goes missing, go to him."

Toren glanced up at the new receptionist and gave a small nod.

"Welcome."

"Nice to meet you," Raeshan replied politely.

Next, Mira pointed to a broad-shouldered man working at a nearby desk. When he noticed them, he raised his head and gave a relaxed smile.

"That's Klaus. He handles equipment deposits, tool rentals, and compensation forms."

The third male staff member was older, with a stern face and solid build.

"Bran," Mira said. "He handles emergency reports, injury records, and death confirmations."

Bran looked at Raeshan and suddenly laughed.

"Oh? A new receptionist? It's been a while since we got fresh blood. But damn, you're handsome. What do you use?"

Raeshan smiled faintly.

"It's natural, senior."

Bran laughed even harder.

Mira's tone grew slightly serious as she began introducing the female staff members.

"You've already met Lira," she said.

"She handles basic registrations."

Next, she nodded toward a sharp-eyed woman flipping through thick bestiary notes.

"That's Sera. She's in charge of monster classification and threat reassessment."

Finally, Mira pointed to a younger girl carefully counting coins at her desk.

"And Yuni. She handles reward payments and material valuation."

Raeshan nodded, committing each role to memory.

Mira stopped beside Raeshan's desk.

"As for you," she said, placing a thick ledger in front of him,

"you'll be working general reception. That includes accepting and issuing quests, verifying completion materials, recording rewards, and stamping approvals."

She lightly tapped the ledger with her finger.

"River Town only handles E- to B-rank quests. There are no A-rank or higher adventurers stationed here. Anything above B-rank must be reported to the guild master."

"I understand," Raeshan replied calmly.

"Good," Mira said with a nod. "Then you're officially ready."

After that, Raeshan returned to his seat and prepared to start work.

As soon as he moved away, the atmosphere behind the reception desks subtly changed.

The female receptionists began whispering among themselves.

"Did you see him up close?" Lira murmured, leaning slightly toward Sera.

"I did," Sera replied quietly, her eyes following Raeshan's back.

"He's even better-looking than I thought."

Yuni pretended to focus on counting coins, but her ears were clearly tuned in.

"And he's polite too," she added softly.

"Not arrogant at all."

"How is it fair for someone to look like that and still act so calm?"

Mira, who had already returned to her paperwork, cleared her throat.

"Focus on your work," she said flatly, though the faint curve at the corner of her lips betrayed her amusement.

"This is an Adventurer Guild, not a matchmaking hall."

The whispers died down, but stolen glances continued.

Raeshan heard everything they said.

His magic senses were spread across the entire Adventurer Guild, naturally picking up every whisper and shift in emotion. Still, he didn't react.

He didn't care about their whispers.

He was already used to it. Back when he was the only male member of the Heroine Party, he had faced far more intense teasing and blatant seduction than this.

Compared to that, this was nothing.

Raeshan sat down, glanced over the items on his desk, and began sorting them again with steady movements. Quest forms, stamps, ledgers... everything was placed neatly in order.

When he felt ready, he straightened his posture and opened the receptionist counter for service.

The wooden sign flipped over.

Open

At first, the female adventurers in the hall didn't pay much attention. A new counter opening was nothing unusual.

But then they noticed who was sitting behind it.

Raeshan.

For a brief second, the front hall went quiet.

The silence lasted only a heartbeat.

Then the murmurs exploded.

"Is that the new receptionist?"

"No way… he's working the counter?"

"He's way too handsome to be sitting there!"

Female adventurers nudged one another, their eyes lighting up as if they had just discovered a rare treasure.

A few straightened their armor. Others brushed their hair back, suddenly very aware of their appearance.

Raeshan remained calm, his expression unchanged.

He lifted his gaze and spoke in a clear, professional tone.

"Next."

That single word was enough.

A female adventurer nearly tripped over her own boots as she hurried forward. She wore light leather armor, her chest rising slightly as she stopped at the counter.

"E-rank adventurer, Lina," she said quickly, sliding her guild plate forward.

"I… I want to submit a quest completion."

Raeshan accepted the plate and materials with smooth, practiced movements.

"Quest type?" he asked.

"Gathering. Blue Mist Forest, outer zone."

He inspected the materials, verified the seal, then stamped the form.

"Completed. Reward: twelve silver coins."

Yuni hurried over to handle the payment.

Lina lingered at the counter, her eyes fixed on Raeshan as if she wanted to say something. After a moment of hesitation, she gave up and walked away with the reward.
