Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: The addition of traceless stretching, a small beginnin

Professor Flitwick's office was right next to the Charms classroom.

In fact, many classrooms and offices at Hogwarts were arranged this way, which was convenient for Professors, allowing them to quickly reach their classrooms without navigating through numerous changing staircases.

Lucien and Professor Flitwick walked a few steps to the office and sat opposite each other at the table.

A teapot automatically flew up and poured tea into the teacups in front of them.

Lucien picked up his teacup, blew away the steam, and took a small sip.

"Oh, authentic Fortnum & Mason tea. This taste is truly exquisite."

Professor Flitwick waved his hand, and the desk drawer opened by itself.

Small, exquisite pocket cakes flew out of a tin, bouncing as they landed on a dessert stand.

Seeing this display, Lucien recalled Cho's evaluation: Professor Flitwick is a particularly kind Professor.

According to that senior, if a young Wizard came to see the Dean when they were feeling down, he would even make these little cakes do a cowboy dance to cheer them up.

No wonder Professor Flitwick had such a good reputation among students.

Who wouldn't like a Professor who is knowledgeable, has excellent teaching skills, and cares about his students?

"Mr. Grafton, what question would you like to ask?"

Lucien's eyes showed a desire for knowledge as he earnestly inquired:

"Professor, you can just call me Lucien."

"It's about the Undetectable Extension Charm. I have some questions and would like you to answer them."

Lucien's question made Flitwick raise an eyebrow, not expecting such an advanced magic to be the first topic.

But Flitwick still said gently:

"Are you interested in this magic and want to try learning it?"

To his surprise, Lucien shook his head:

"No, Professor, I have already initially learned the Undetectable Extension Charm."

"I want to ask how to apply other magic, such as a Warming Charm, a Waterproofing Charm, or a Cleaning Charm—these kinds of everyday magic—to an object that has had the Undetectable Extension Charm cast on it?"

"And how can an Undetectably Extended container hold living creatures?"

To save time and convince Professor Flitwick that he had already learned the Undetectable Extension Charm, Lucien explained while picking up an empty teacup.

He took out his wand and flicked his wrist.

"Spatium Extendere (Undetectable Extension Charm)!"

The inner wall of the teacup immediately developed several complex patterns, extending and intertwining, then rapidly disappearing.

Lucien put down the teacup and used a Levitation Charm to control the teapot, beginning to pour water into the cup.

Professor Flitwick stared at the teacup without blinking. The tea from the pot continuously poured in, yet not a single drop overflowed the rim of the cup.

It wasn't until the last drop of tea fell from the spout, creating a ripple in the cup, that Flitwick reacted, looking up at Lucien in astonishment.

The Undetectable Extension Charm was a spell that only senior students preparing for their N.E.W.T.s would encounter, and even most of them would ultimately fail to master it.

But now, a first-year Wizard, who had only been at Hogwarts for one day—oh no, one class—had successfully cast the Undetectable Extension Charm?

Who did he learn it from?

Admittedly, in Flitwick's view, Lucien's Undetectable Extension Charm was not yet perfectly refined; there was still room for improvement.

But he really did it! Right in front of him, a Charms Professor, he successfully cast the spell!

Seeing that Professor Flitwick hadn't spoken for a while, Lucien tentatively asked:

"Professor, is what I'm envisioning impossible to achieve? Or is there a regulation against it?"

"If it causes you difficulty, we can skip this question."

Lucien's words immediately brought Flitwick back to his senses. He picked up the tea in front of him, trying to calm the shock within.

But his hand, holding the cup, was still trembling slightly.

"Oh no, your idea is entirely feasible."

"Um, against regulations…"

"No, there's nothing against regulations about learning magic at school."

Flitwick quickly drank the tea in his cup, moistening his dry mouth and tongue.

He was about to pour another cup when he remembered the pot was empty.

So, Flitwick awkwardly waved his hand, and fresh tea leaves and hot water flew into the pot.

"Ahem, Lucien, your idea is excellent."

"And your talent is… very good."

Flitwick wanted to praise Lucien, but then thought that any praise would feel inadequate, not quite enough to describe him, and finally just uttered a "good."

"Let's start by discussing how to apply other magic to an object that has had the Undetectable Extension Charm cast on it."

Pulling out his wand, Flitwick cast the Undetectable Extension Charm on another empty cup.

"Unlike the layering of other magic, because Undetectable Extension involves the expansion of space…"

"When casting, you need to adjust the points and layers where the spell takes effect…"

Listening carefully to Professor Flitwick's detailed guidance, Lucien imitated and practiced.

And the more Flitwick taught, the more astonished he became.

Lucien's progress was too fast; he seemed to have already mastered some common magic.

As for magic he hadn't learned, Lucien only needed to see it once, sometimes without even needing a very detailed explanation, and he could successfully cast it after one or two tries.

As the number of castings increased, his proficiency with these spells also rapidly improved.

From Lucien's perspective, the system panel was constantly updating:

[Loan: Waterproofing Charm (Daily Loan) – Proficient]

[Task: Cast Waterproofing Charm five times]

[Loan Completed]

[Loan: Cleaning Charm (Daily Loan) – Proficient]

[Task: Cast Cleaning Charm five times]

[Loan Completed]

[… ]

[Loan Completed]

Daily Loans had the lowest interest among magic loans, and the rewards were generally modest, only helping Lucien quickly get started with some magic. However, the tasks required were also very simple, merely repetitive practice.

The key was that Lucien could actively customize the Daily Loan projects, specifying which magic skill he wanted. Unlike Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly Loans, which tried to align with his needs but might not always fully satisfy them.

After quickly completing the basic preparations, Professor Flitwick began to explain the specific techniques and precautions for attaching spells.

At this stage, Lucien's speed gradually slowed down.

Along the way, Lucien asked the system if there were any relevant Weekly or Monthly Loans available for this knowledge.

But after checking, he found that they were either too broad and general or only slightly touched upon this area.

"Well, the system isn't omnipotent. Relying on self-study and practice to acquire knowledge still cannot be neglected."

Lucien again decided that he would go to the library today to borrow advanced books.

As this pair of teacher and student taught and learned, Lucien eventually completed the simple attached spells.

On the demonstration teacup, which had the Undetectable Extension Charm applied, he successfully added a Warming Charm, a Heating Charm, and a Waterproofing Charm.

What was originally just an ordinary teacup now had the ability to automatically adjust the tea's temperature, keeping it at a pleasantly warm but perfectly drinkable temperature, and also insulated the temperature inside and outside the cup, so it wouldn't feel hot to the touch.

Actually, for Lucien, in the era before his transmigration, such functions could easily be achieved with various technological products.

But the special effects of this teacup were all created by Lucien himself.

It was equivalent to a person from that era, purely on their own, starting from scratch, hand-crafting a high-tech marvel.

This was an experience that only magic could bring, a manifestation of knowledge as power.

A small teacup was just the beginning. In this world of magic, I will learn more, master more, and create more…
