The first thing Rex noticed as he slowly woke up was... PAIN.
It wasn't the sharp, immediate pain he felt when the Goblin King's axe hit him, but it was more like a dull, all-over ache that seemed to come from every part of his body.
His shoulder hurt where he had taken the first hit to protect Diana, his back felt like it had been ripped apart and poorly put back together, and even doing the most human thing, like breathing, hurt his ribs.
"Grrgghhh... fucking hell," Rex thought as he woke up. "Remember... even when you change the damage, getting hit with big axes still hurts so fucking bad."
"It better be worth it in the future because I'll fucking remember this moment for the rest of my life..." Rex tried to open his eyes, but they were heavy and didn't want to work with him. "Ah yeah... I almost fucked up."
