After he was done planting false evidence on the dead body of the Greenwood Sky Snake to ensure it appeared that his older brother, Huang Long, had finished it off and not him, he instantly started to run back the way he came, towards the outer forest.
Unfortunately for him, he was not the only person—or should I say living thing—in this area that was currently trying its best to escape, as numerous spiritual beasts of between the 1st and 3rd level of the True Profound Realm were running in the same direction as him.
Oh fuck… I fucking miscalculated.
BOOM!
One of the 2nd level True Profound spiritual beasts, a massive land-based crocodile that was ten meters in all directions, suddenly fought with another True Profound spiritual beast that was at the first level, and this time it was a massive Gray Wolf that had ice-blue scales.
As the wolf and the crocodile were engaged in their fight, the Gray Wolf, who had been focused on trying to run away and was defending itself from the crocodile, suddenly saw him running ahead of it and raised its claws, swiping at him as if he were swiping a fly.
SLASH!
Without having the time to look around and defend himself, the claw hit him in the back, slashing through his clothes and leaving his back bloodied and bruised as he spit out a mouthful of blood.
Clearly, at his level, taking a direct hit from a True Profound Realm spiritual beast without even being able to mount a defense was still too difficult to bear.
Shit, shit, shit.
Thankfully, as he was running in a single direction, the massive amount of Nascent Profound beasts in the outer forest started to show up outside of their territories, also joining the process of running away, and so he was now in between them.
Instantly, he thought of something as he waved his hand; all of a sudden, he no longer looked like his elder brother, Huang Long, but instead looked like a 4th level Nascent Profound Realm Grayscale Wolf as he started to run on all fours like a dog.
"Shit… do I really have to run like this, System? Don't you have another solution?!"
[RESPONDING TO HOST: THE THOUSAND FACED MASK WAS CREATED TO IMITATE HUMAN TARGETS, NOT SPIRITUAL BEASTS. THE HOST'S APPLICATION OF THE ITEM SEEMS TO BE QUITE UNIQUE.]
Instantly, Huang Shi, who was currently in wolf form, had his mouth twitch, as clearly this damn system of his was actually trying to be sarcastic.
"Hey, you motherfucker, so you actually know how to joke around now, eh?"
[THE SYSTEM DOES NOT RECOGNIZE WHAT THE HOST MEANS. THE SYSTEM HAS NO EMOTIONS TO SPEAK OF.]
Huang Shi instantly scoffed as he stopped thinking about these things and focused on running away, as more and more spiritual beasts appeared all around him, making it like a flood.
Ah shit… I just caused a fucking beast tide, didn't I? Fuck.
Just as he thought things couldn't get any worse, the Greenwood Sky Snake King—who was now clearly enraged—suddenly flew higher into the sky, its fangs flashing with an emerald hue. It flapped its massive wings for a few seconds before instantly disappearing from its location, reappearing right at the spot where its son had died.
It stared at the corpse for a few seconds, doing nothing, before a loud, roaring sound suddenly erupted from its mouth. That's right; it wasn't a hiss like snakes usually do. It sounded like the roar of a dragon, and it was an angry roar—an extremely, extremely angry roar.
ROAR!!!
FUCK, just run! He can't possibly know that it's me; I'm literally a fucking wolf right now.
All of a sudden, the Greenwood Sky Snake King looked down at the mass of spiritual beasts running ahead of it in a frantic stampede.
It flapped its massive wings and instantly appeared around 30 meters away from where he currently was, smack dab in the middle of the beast tide. Without warning, it opened its gargantuan mouth and spat out a roiling cloud of toxic green gas.
WHOOSH!
Instantly, the green gas covered an area of roughly 100 meters. Within that area, every plant, vegetation, spiritual beast, insect—whatever living thing had the unfortunate luck to be within the range of its attack—suddenly started screaming.
Their bodies began to melt; their muscles, bones, and skin all started to dissolve as if they were bathing in acid.
Even he, who was currently at the periphery of the gas because he was one of the first living things to start running away from the site, felt his entire body starting to sizzle as the poison tried to turn him into a liquid.
Shit, shit, shit!
Instantly, the so-called normal Grayscale Wolf he was imitating started to glow with shimmering golden flames, trying its best to purify the poison, while his body crackled with crimson lightning to stabilize his physique.
Despite all of these efforts, his body was still starting to melt from the toxin. Parts of his skin began to fall off, exposing his muscles, while even deeper within his body, he felt his bones start to creak.
It was clear that if he didn't find a way to escape from the vicinity of the poison gas right now, he would definitely die a miserable death in this place.
FUCK! I WAS LITERALLY JUST BARELY WITHIN ITS FUCKING RANGE! WHY THE HELL DOES IT STILL DO SO MUCH DAMAGE? FUCK, IT HURTS!! I'M MELTING!! EVERYTHING HURTS!!
The various nascent profound and true profound spiritual beasts that were running beside him weren't any better off as they instantly started dying in droves.
SHIT FUCK. THIS IS A DAMN MASACRE
As he was running ahead, screaming internally, he saw a woman out of the corner of his eye running in the same direction as him, away from the Greenwood Sky Snake King. She had beautiful red hair that shimmered under the light, and she was wearing blood-re—
FUCK!! IS THIS REALLY THE TIME TO BE ADMIRING A WOMAN, ME?! SERIOUSLY?! WE ARE ABOUT TO DIE HERE!
