The system, as if heralding the doom of his impending death, once again spoke in that cold and monotonous tone, but this time he could clearly feel a hint of sadness in its voice.
[Goodbye host, it was nice meeting you.]
FUCK!! DON'T KILL ME OFF JUST YET, YOU DAMN BASTARD!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT WAS NICE MEETING YOU!! I'M STILL ALIVE, AREN'T I??
Huang Shi wanted to howl in desperation; he wanted to run, he wanted to fight, he wanted to do anything in his power to try to salvage the situation. But no matter what he thought, there was nothing he believed he could do—there were no solutions, there was no way out, there was only…
Alright, screw it. This woman wants the truth? Then I'll give her the truth. It's not like I have anything to lose at this damn point.
Huang Shi took a deep breath as he looked into her eyes before speaking in a sarcastic tone.
"Alright, Bai Xinyue, you got me. Let's ignore the fact that you purposefully chose not to answer my question regarding whether only you have the right to have a heavenly physique."
Bai Xinyue stayed quiet, and yet the temperature of the surroundings turned even colder as her eyes narrowed into pinpricks.
"But sure, you want the truth? Fine, I'll give you the damn truth! You want to know if I'm an ally or an enemy to this universe? You wanted to know if I'm some sort of threat?"
Huang Shi kept quiet for a few seconds, trying to force himself to relax once more before speaking with gritted teeth.
"I don't fucking know, alright?! Do you think I know about this whole damn universe thing? That I'm some sort of evil entity sent by some fucking evil force just to stop whatever it is you are doing? Well, I'm not. In fact, I just got here! I just got here a few fucking weeks ago! How the hell would I know about your damn problems, you fucking protagonist!"
Huang Shi screamed with indignation as he raised his hand and pointed it straight at her.
"You think I fucking care about whatever it is that's going on? Well, I don't, because I don't even know what the hell is happening to me! All I know is that I died in my previous world and when I woke up, I'm in this damn body! So why don't you tell me, Miss-Know-It-All, what am I? Huh? What should I do in this world? Should I just let myself die and continue to be a piece of shit?"
Bai Xinyue, who had thus far worn an icy look of murder on her face, suddenly trembled. The fingers that were holding on to her sword started to lose their grip before she spoke with a shiver in her voice.
"Wh-what? You are a transmigrator? How is that possible? The Heavenly Dao would not have allowed the possession of a mortal unless..."
Huang Shi looked at her with an angry expression before he screamed out in a hoarse voice.
"You think I've had things easy? You think it's easy having a normal life and then suddenly being sent into this hellhole? A place where people like you can just kill others like they were damn ants in the ground whenever they want?"
Huang Shi grit his teeth as he spoke in a voice filled with indignation.
"Well, it's not! You bastards, it's not! I admit I may have been excited when I first got to this damn place—I mean, who wouldn't be? It's a new world, new places to explore, new people to meet. But fuck, I knew the cultivation world was cruel, but I didn't think it was cruel to this extent!!"
"In fact, if you gave me the choice of whether or not I wanted to go back to my previous world or stay in this damn hellscape, I would choose to go back 100 percent of the time. Screw this shit!"
It was clear at this point that Huang Shi had already started to lose control of himself. All of the pain, the fear, and the frustrations he had about suddenly being thrust into this entirely different world all by himself had caused him a tremendous amount of pressure.
Not knowing whether or not he would live or die, whether or not some arrogant young master with a higher cultivation base than himself would suddenly smack him to death, or whether or not some True Profound elder in the sect suddenly found him very displeasing and killed him on the spot, had caused him a massive amount of fear and anxiety.
In fact, if it wasn't for him meeting Li Mei on his very first day here, and him knowing that even if she did find out about his true identity she would still choose to love and be with him, who knows what he would have done. Who knows if he would even still be alive.
"I'm just a normal person. I'm not some cold-blooded killer, or some unparalleled genius or whatever. I'm just a guy that's trying to change and survive in this dogshit world. You want me to kill people to make sure that I don't get killed in return?
Fine, I'll kill people without blinking. You want me to cultivate to make sure that I can protect the people that I love and make sure that they stay with me until the end? Fine, I'll cultivate until my bones break and until my spirit shatters!"
Huang Shi then turned his attention back to Bai Xinyue with bloodshot eyes as he spoke in a hoarse voice.
"You ask me who I am? What my goals are? If I am an enemy or an ally? Well, I'll tell you right now. My name was Kai. Now I am Huang Shi, but I am a mix of both. I have inherited the previous Huang Shi's memories, and it has combined with my current identity. As for my goals and whether or not I'm an enemy or an ally?"
Huang Shi remained silent, as his voice, which had been thus far filled with both indignation and desperation, suddenly turned ice-cold, filled with murderous intent.
