A few hours back, while Huang Shi was still suffering from his cultivation of his technique, Bai Xinyue—who had once been watching him with amusement—was already starting to frown.
Truth be told, she was quite enjoying seeing Huang Shi screaming like a dying pig each time he got hit by the lightning. From what she knew of the Azure Dragon Sect, they were a sect of body cultivators and actually used lightning to cultivate their bodies.
In fact, one of the primary reasons why the Azure Dragon Sect owned this part of the massive Greenwood Forest was because of its close proximity to the Azure Lightning Valley; it was basically the perfect place for members of the Azure Dragon Sect to cultivate their body cultivation methods.
However, from what she had observed with Huang Shi thus far, he had never been a body cultivator except for today. Not only that, his fighting style seemed oddly orthodox, focusing mainly on spiritual energy cultivation.
Those golden flames seemed especially deadly. She had never seen those kinds of flames even within the most powerful forces of this continent.
This Huang Shi has a lot of secrets...
Bai Xinyue's eyes, which were once cold, had become quite thoughtful as numerous memories flooded into her mind. She remembered how, when she was a child, her grandfather had introduced her to a young boy from the Azure Dragon Sect named Huang Shi.
According to her grandfather, this child had a great destiny around him, and them being acquainted with each other would bring immense benefits—not only to her, but to their Bai Clan.
She remembered that this was the first time her family had openly tried to set her up with a man. Although as a child she didn't understand what those old fogeys were doing and was just concerned about making friends with him, her impression of him at the time was, quite obviously, mediocre.
He was not special by any stretch of the imagination. Not only that, but he seemed to be a massive mothercon, constantly clinging to his stepmother and afraid to even look her in the eyes.
Despite this, her grandfather was quite adamant about them being together and eventually getting married. At the time, her parents had agreed to it probably just to make sure that her grandfather didn't suddenly die of a heart attack because his whims weren't followed.
After that, years went by and she forgot about her so-called fiancé, up until she became of age at eighteen and her mother had casually mentioned what she wanted to do about her so-called engagement.
Her immediate reaction was, surprisingly, not rejection but curiosity. Truth be told, she was not very fond of men. Men had always tried to get near her when they noticed her stunning appearance even as a child, or they approached her because of the power of the Bai Clan.
This instinctively made her reject men as a whole, which is why, when she was able to do so, she had forged a special technique using her spiritual energy to hide her appearance.
Although this did reduce the amount of trouble that she faced, the nature of her physique could not be completely hidden; her eyes always seemed to draw people in, causing them to become either intimidated into submission or become lost and infatuated.
However, her curiosity towards Huang Shi quickly came to an end when she realized that he was a complete wastrel. Not only did he not have a cultivation base, he was even rumored to be a complete pervert who had nothing on his mind but chasing women.
Her curiosity turned into disgust, which then turned into apathy. It was then that she realized that she had to cut off this cancer as soon as she could.
That is why, when she learned that Huang Shi had become crippled, her scheming mind had quickly taken note of an opportunity and so she sent the Azure Dragon Sect a Three-Heart Celestial Lotus, hoping for this to be a form of compensation to the ending of her and Huang Shi's engagement.
However, it seems the Azure Dragon Sect took this matter and flipped it on its head. Instead of them believing her actions to be a form of recompense, they took it as a sign of interest and inflated the situation to the point that, from the Azure Dragon Sects' perspective, it was she who was interested in Huang Shi.
Absolute hogwash.
Bai Xinyue gritted her teeth as she thought of those idiots back in the Azure Dragon Sect. It was because of their incompetence that she was forced to take drastic actions and approach Huang Shi himself in hopes of ending their engagement.
After all, based on culture, if a woman chose to end their engagement with a man, it was considered a humiliation for the man, and despite her dislike of Huang Shi, she did not want any unnecessary hostility to form between them.
And so instead she had hatched a plan, where Huang Shi was the one who ended their engagement himself, allowing him to keep his dignity as a man, while she simply had to nod her head in agreement.
She had planned to give him all sorts of cultivation resources, all sorts of techniques; if he was still crippled, she was even planning to help him completely cure his crippled spiritual veins and even make them stronger, so his talent for cultivation could improve.
However, reality was far from what she expected. Not only was Huang Shi not the useless waste that she had thought, he seemed to be the exact opposite.
He was calm in battle and decisive enough to take risks to kill his opponent; he had a scheming mind and could quickly calm himself down even in her presence. It was a bit unnerving finding out that all of her information about a person had been mistaken.
As Bai Xinyue stared at Huang Shi as he continued to scream in the light, a single thought rang through her mind:
This man is not an ordinary individual.
