After Huang Shi had received the talisman from his grandfather, he and him talked a bit more for a while, trying to get to know each other before he finally left his study.
Of course, the first thing that Huang Shi saw when he went out was the pretty little lady that was supposed to guide him for the day.
Maybe this little lass can help me feel better, heaven knows I need it.
Huang Shi gave a slight smile as he greeted Qiao Fenyi politely.
"Little Miss! I'm sorry if you had to wait long, me and my grandfather had much to talk about."
Qiao Fenyi on the other hand had seemed to lose her fear of Huang Shi the moment she found out that he was very close with Huang Li as she returned to her previous personality of a hot pepper.
"Hmmp! You dare to make me wait for so long, if it wasn't for the reward I would receive for helping you I would have already left!"
Huang Shi, who knew that he and his grandfather did speak for quite a long period of time, felt a bit guilty as he once again apologized for making her wait.
"I apologize little miss, I didn't know you would stay out here waiting for so long! I could have just come to fetch you after we were done."
Qiao Fenyi on the other hand didn't buy this explanation at all as her cute little face turned a bit red before speaking in a slightly rough tone.
"Huang Shi! Don't you know the kind of reputation you have in the sect? If you gave me a task and I somehow wasn't here when you arrived, who knows what you would have done to me!"
Even though he knew that this girl was just purposefully making things difficult for him for some reason, he just couldn't get himself to be angry at her and so he just gave a smile.
"Alright little miss, you win, since I have offended you, what do you want as compensation?"
When Qiao Fenyi heard what Huang Shi said she seemed slightly shocked, as if she couldn't believe that Huang Shi would offer her compensation for such a small offense.
In fact, Huang Shi was absolutely right in his judgement that she was just purposefully making things difficult for him because she was annoyed at having been made to wait for so long.
What is this guy planning??
Huang Shi on the other hand didn't think much; in his mind, if a pretty girl got angry at you, you had no choice but to try and soothe her, lest you wanted even more headaches on your plate.
Qiao Fenyi looked straight at Huang Shi as if thinking of what to ask for a few moments before ultimately shaking her head with a solemn expression that didn't work at all as she just looked adorable.
"All right, I was just messing with you! Obviously, if Grandpa Huang wanted to talk with you I can't really do anything about it, I'm not that petty."
This time it was Huang Shi's turn to be a bit shocked. Truth be told, even though he felt that Qiao Fenyi was a pretty attractive girl, just having good looks was not enough for him to treat her as a potential partner; if the girl made his life generally more difficult than easy, what was the point of a relationship anyways?
Interesting, it seems I have to put in a bit more effort in pursuing this girl.
After thinking for a couple of seconds, Huang Shi finally had an idea as he once again gave Qiao Fenyi a gentle smile.
"Alright, how about this, little miss? After this is all over, I'll treat you to a meal sometime in the near future—just the two of us, my treat. How about it?"
Qiao Fenyi, on the other hand, seemed a bit shocked, as this was clearly the first time that a member of the opposite sex had been so confident in asking her out before.
Most of the time when guys tried to hit on her, they would beat around the bush or try to force her to go out with them. The only reason she was able to maintain her peaceful life was because of Grandpa Huang Li; if not for him, who knows what would have happened to her.
Hmm... he and Grandpa Huang Li seem very close, and the rumors about him being a waste and having no cultivation seem false as well. In fact, he was able to beat Huang Yi into submission earlier, even though it was technically an ambush.
Qiao Fenyi then stared straight at Huang Shi's face, trying to examine his features. The more she looked, the more pleasing to the eyes he became.
His dark hair and orange robes made him look clean and proper; in fact, he even looked quite handsome. But truly, it was his eyes that made him so much better than all of the guys that had pursued her before.
It's like his eyes contain both light and dark... kindness for his loved ones and fury for his enemies.
Huang Shi, noticing that this girl was suddenly staring at his face, felt a bit awkward as he touched his cheek before speaking.
"Little miss, is there something on my face?"
Qiao Fenyi, noticing that she had been so caught up in her examination of his face that she had been staring at him inappropriately, suddenly blushed as her entire face turned red.
She forcefully looked away. "No—nothing! We'll talk about that meal later. Didn't you come here to ask me for my help by introducing you to the information hall? Let's go do that right now!"
Qiao Fenyi then quickly turned around as if she was trying to avoid the situation, walking swiftly towards the first floor of the information hall with Huang Shi following behind her with a smile.
