Chapter 1 - The Ashen Knights

(Date: 130 AR)

Inquisitor Mari Bowl had been fight the Heretical forces of chaos for the past 15 years. Her will and trust in the Emperor had been tested many times before this campaign, but these past 15 years had taken a toll on her sanity.

15 years ago three Chaos warbands invaded the planet Ongar, a planet that was already fighting a war against a horde of Orks. She had been nearby when her ship intercepted a distress signal from the planet Ongar. The communications dictated the planet's crisis and after arriving on the planet she learned more about the situation.

The three warbands had been detected in this planet's orbit. Their arrival and unknown purpose was a mystery to all. That purpose she still is unaware of, but what happened shortly after her arrival definitely made that harder.

A warp storm surge across the planet's surrounding and completely obscured the sight of all on this planet. Communication with the outside world was completely cut off. Even her ship disappeared from orbit. War raged across the planet as three eventually four factions. The Imperial planetary Forces were forced to defend the civilian population from traitors, Orks and eventually Necrons.

Now in the present day the war wasn't going well for them. The forces of humanity had been driven back to a into the four remaining hive cities that humanity had fortified. Their population was large, but they are running out of supplies. Soon they would be out of food and if that happened they would have to commit to darker means of food production.

As Inquisitor Bowl as she got up from her desk. The paper work piled their a constant struggle. Sighing she started out her window into the horizon and coincidentally she witnessed the warp storm part.

Desperately she ordered her men to attempted to communicate with the wider imperium. For hours they attempted all possible lines of communication until eventually an old vox system was successful.

The Vox blinked with old loyalist security codes. It was suspicious… but they were desperate. Anything was better than nothing at this point.

Inquisitor Bowl stepped forward and excepted the communication. "This is Inquisitor Mari Bowl Ordo Hereticus. I have taken control of the Imperial forces after the death or betrayal of all other qualified officials. I beseech any loyal imperium forces for Aid. We are surrounded on all fronts traitors and Xenos surround us and are supplies are running low. In the name of the Emperor please assist us!"

As the Inquisitor's voice ended seconds felt like days. No one spoke no one breathed if not for the distant sounds of war the Inquisitor would have thought that the world stood still.

Finally a male voice spoke through the Vox speakers. "This is the Chapter master of the Ashen Knights legion. You are requesting assistance we will answer the call. We will deploy are Troopers to your location in less then 24 hours. Assistance is on your way."

This knowledge was past through the troops. The Emperor's Angels had responded to Lady Mari Bowls call. (PS. Civilians and Soldiers would not know she is an Inquisitor.) Inquisitor Bowl knew it was probably not wise to spread this information, but at this point anything that could possibly bring up the morale of the military and civilian would stave of chaos's encroaching Claws.

12 hours after communication with the Space Marines the first sign of their impending arrival was sited. A group of star ships appeared in orbit right over head.

As humanity watched drop ships descend with hearts full of hope their Vox Radios blared to life. "Chaos Space Marines were spotted leading a horde of Traitor forces toward the Left Flank prepare for battle!"

That announcement broke their hopeful silence. But as they prepared for battle they realized the Emperor's angles would be here soon and if any one could save this world they definitely would.

Gunfire's shreeked overhead as inquisitor Bowl Took cover in the back lines. She knew things always got better before they got worse and the fact that the traitors had summoned a horde of Chaos daemons Wasn't helping their situation. More than likely the Traitors had received Intel about the space Marines Impending arrival. This final push this Suicidal charge was A last ditch effort to eliminate the loyalist forces before their hope was reinforced.

Inquisitor Bowl Watched as one of her lieutenants rushed into her command point. "ma'am they've broken through At a point 3F and are charging towards point 3G. If we don't stop them soon, they'll be able to get Behind our front lines and eventually make their way back to the civilians." Bowl Exhaled. " it always gets better before it gets worse." she muttered. " all right follow me!" she yelled as she began to exit of the safety of her commander point."

Her Lieutenants fallowed in a flustered march. Their requests for her to return to safety falling on deaf ears. Walking towards the Mechanical front Bowl saw the last Imperial Knight still working on the planet. It's shattered frame denoting the battles it had seen. The Knight was currently being used as a artillery platform. The Knight pilot afraid that the sacred machine would never move again if it was to fight on the current frontlines.

Bowl looked out towards the breached lines and watch her men begin to die in droves. It seems the traitor Forces new something they didn't because they dispatched Death Guard Terminators to break through the front lines.

Bowl watch as her troops began to projectile Vomet as their faces turned a sickly green. This was the Death Guard's most effective push in five years. If something didn't happen soon this defensive front would have to be abandoned.

A Splattering of bodies alarmed Inquisitor Bowl to the reason as to how the Death Guard got so far into the front. Death guard were falling from the sky. Something was launching them over the frontlines leading to there inevitable collapse.

Right before she could move to assist her troops Bowl heard the sharp sound of wind as air was pushed out of the way of a hulking drop pod.

"Get back!" Shouted Bowl As she jumped away from the inevitable landing site. With a slam a giant Ash grey drop pod Came to a direct stop. Steam pores out as the Pods doors open in a violent Manner. Out steps Astarties in old ash gray Crusader armor. The medieval like armor reflecting the name of their chapter. Their Armor adorned with the Iconography of their chapter. The symbol of a golden blade backdropped by a cloud of smoke displaying their noble colors.

As the space marines walked out they lifted Power Shields to block the rain of infernal shells pouring from the Bolters of the Death Guard. Behind the Ashen Knights mortal troops Positioned themselves in the space marines formation. A Marine in Silver Armor spoke a single word "Fire!" A moment later the Troopers fired their Lazrifles. At first it appeared to do nothing to the Death Guard marines, but the next second the Death Guard marines fell forward their bodies seemed to shake as the corrupted filth covering their bodies turned to ash. All that remained was normal Metal and flesh. No corruption remained in the now cooling bodies. All that remained were dead knight.
