Chapter 57 - Chapter 26: The Well-Behaved Miss Lux

Leo's mood instantly improved, because this confirmed one thing.

It wasn't that he was unlucky—it was that Kelly's luck was simply absurd.

This woman was clearly blessed by fortune. Even though her background and life experiences could hardly be described as lucky, at least in the present moment, she was unquestionably the luckiest person among everyone here.

"That's really depressing. To think I'd lose in luck to a human."

Rias was also surprised. She looked at Kelly with eyes full of disbelief.

She had always considered herself among the luckiest of her kind, yet she was still no match for Kelly.

"What a shame…"

Rias couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

Someone like this not becoming her servant was truly regrettable. That kind of rule-breaking good fortune could bring endless benefits.

As for superstition…

She was literally a devil—talking about superstition would be a joke.

"To possess luck powerful enough to overwhelm the Gremory family… Miss Kelly, you must be someone important in your world, right?"

She couldn't help asking. Someone with such incomprehensible luck surely couldn't be a nobody in another world.

But Kelly's reply left her stunned.

"Of course not. I'm just a small fry—someone you'd never notice if I were tossed into a crowd. Alright, enough chatter. Let's get moving and finish the quests."

Kelly laughed it off casually, and the four of them continued running missions together.

Because their efficiency was extremely high, they completed eight quests in under an hour. After that, they went right back to reinforcing their defenses.

Even without Tsunade, Rias could still fly for short periods without issue.

Kelly set up some simple protective measures to reinforce their relatively fragile main gate.

As for Leo, he went mining together with Lux.

Mining was monotonous and dull work, but the new forge Kelly had built allowed their efforts to be quickly converted into tangible results. And the workbench blueprint Leo had just acquired meant those steel ingots could now be turned into sturdier, more reliable equipment.

While adding materials to the furnace, Leo happened to notice Lux, her body covered in dust, and couldn't help thinking of something.

"She'll be leaving soon…"

Leo looked at Lux. Even though he tried his best not to let his appreciation for her body show, Lux still trembled slightly when she saw him.

It wasn't because of Leo's gaze—it was because of her own thoughts.

Because of what Rias had said earlier, Lux hadn't invested any skill points into the Seven Days to Die system. As a result, she was using her own physical strength when swinging tools. That was why Leo had already gone back and forth several times before seeing her even once.

Now Lux was clearly exhausted, which was why she had come over, partly to rest.

But seeing Leo still full of energy, only lightly sweating, she couldn't help thinking about something.

That is—

How many times could Leo go in one night?

It was a very real question.

Even though Lux had never seriously considered such things before, it was clear that now… she had to.

So she stammered as she asked,

"Mr. Leo, your body… it's fine, right? You work out often, don't you…?"

Her hesitant, awkward manner was extremely cute, and Leo instantly understood why she had been trembling earlier.

"Huh? Well… I'm not bragging, but at least right now, this kind of work doesn't really tire me out."

He answered in a tone that tried not to make her think in that direction.

"As for working out, that was a long time ago. But living in this world has actually improved my physical condition quite a bit."

Leo was very sure of this. In this world, he'd been forced into dieting, constantly exercising, and staying active. Even though he didn't have visible abs yet, his belly fat was almost completely gone.

If this continued, becoming a ripped eight-pack monster was only a matter of time.

"I-I see…"

Lux's face turned even redder.

Just as the two of them fell into an awkward silence, the roar of a motorcycle engine echoed from the distance. Not long after, Kelly appeared in front of them, wearing a jacket and jeans, sunglasses on her face.

"Hey, Leo. That pond near the gas station was full of zombies earlier, so I'm not drinking that water anymore. Come with me—we'll go fetch some clean water. Miss Lux, could you help keep watch for Rias?"

Because Rias occasionally needed to fly while constructing the new steel fortress, someone had to keep lookout.

Lux didn't think too much about it and agreed immediately.

"Okay, Miss Kelly."

She obediently went upstairs, while Kelly turned to Leo with a grin. She removed her sunglasses and used them to lift Leo's chin.

"Come on, handsome—give me a smile."

Leo more or less knew what she was about to do.
