Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Blue and Green Pills

"Based on the pill you provided, Dr. Lister and I have currently analyzed several characteristics. However, only two can be converted and produced: one for restoring physical strength, and one for resisting hunger.

Based on the two characteristics we've already analyzed, we conducted experiments to find substitute substances and then developed these two new medicines."

Dr. Smith explained as he handed a box to Li Chuan.

Li Chuan took the box, which contained two pills, one blue and one green:

"What are the general effects?"

"After testing, the blue new medicine for restoring physical strength can instantly restore half of an adult man's strength after exhaustion. It can be taken again after a three-hour interval.

The stronger the person, the less effective it will be, and the weaker the person, the better the effect. However, the stronger the person, the shorter the interval between doses, and the weaker the person, the longer the interval."

Dr. Smith first pointed to the blue pill and introduced it.

Li Chuan nodded:

"So, for strong fitness enthusiasts who are exhausted, taking it might not restore half their strength, perhaps only one-third or one-quarter, but they don't have to wait three hours to take it again.

And for those with poor health, like elderly people or children, their strength might instantly recover by more than half, or even completely, after taking it, but they'd have to wait five or six hours before taking it again. Is that what you mean?"

"Yes, we will continue to test the specifics later and produce a detailed and complete data sheet."

Dr. Smith picked up the green pill and continued to introduce it:

"The green hunger-resistant pill allows a normal adult man to go without food for a day after taking one. A maximum of three pills can be taken at a time.

Similarly, there will be slight deviations based on the user's body type."

"Very good. What is the approximate cost of these two pills?"

Li Chuan closed the box and placed it on the table.

The cost of the pills would affect future sales profits. If the cost was too high to be profitable, there would be no need to produce them.

Dr. Smith proudly raised his head:

"Don't worry about that. If the cost were too high, I wouldn't say the experiment was successful. The average production cost for one blue pill is only 1 Sauron, and the green pill costs even less, only half a Sauron."

"Very good, it's much cheaper than the Great Strength Pill!"

Upon hearing Dr. Smith report the cost, a smile immediately appeared on Li Chuan's face.

Sauron is the currency of Sokovia, and one Sauron is roughly equivalent to one yuan in China, while the Great Strength Pill previously cost five Sauron per pill to produce.

However, the Great Strength Pill took a high-end route, with a selling price of up to one thousand Sauron per pill, resulting in extremely high profits.

A pill costing one thousand yuan sounds expensive, but this World never lacks rich people. For the sake of regaining their vigor and maintaining their health, many people would buy it, let alone one thousand, even ten thousand.

And not only the rich, but some middle-to-low-income people can also afford to spend one or two thousand to buy a couple of pills occasionally.

It was precisely the two-hundred-fold profit of the Great Strength Pill that allowed Li's Group to re-enter the ranks of first-tier companies from being third-tier.

"The Great Strength Pill can increase physical strength with long-term use, and its ingredients are much better. The blue and green pills only have temporary effects, so the ingredients used are significantly inferior."

Dr. Smith explained the reason in one sentence.

"The blue pill can be used with the Great Strength Pill and sold for five hundred. The green pill will be sold at a low price, just one coin, not for making much money. Its main purpose is to quickly build the reputation of Li's Group."

Looking at the two small pills on the table, Li Chuan already had a rough plan in mind.

The Great Strength Pill, combined with the blue pill, would continue to target the high-end market. Strength combined with endurance would definitely appeal to those middle-aged and elderly company bosses.

As for the green anti-hunger pill, there was no need to sell it at a high price, because this was not a time of war, and most people had a good standard of living, not so poor that they couldn't even afford food.

The green pill's purpose was only for those truly impoverished people. The goal of selling it at a low price was to do charity and continue to establish his image as a philanthropist.

Don't underestimate this image; as long as he had an excellent reputation in the public eye, the government would have to consider his influence if they wanted to move against him.

One coin could feed someone for a day; how many poor people could that save?

And as long as the volume picked up, it could actually make some money, after all, it was common for many low-income people to occasionally use this method to save money if they needed to save up.

Specifically, it would still need to be handed over to Jack, who was responsible for promotion and sales. The idea was there, but it was best to leave professional matters to professionals.

"Thank you for your hard work, Dr. Smith. If you need anything, you can find Uncle Lee. The HYDRA organization that kidnapped you is very large. Until I deal with them, you cannot leave the Base and move freely for now."

According to Dr. Lister's confession, the one who wanted the Great Strength Pill formula was a HYDRA leader named John Garrett, whose public identity was a crucial Level Eight Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D..

With the HYDRA Base in Sokovia destroyed, HYDRA would definitely investigate. If Dr. Smith, who was originally held at the Base, safely returned home and continued to work at Li's Group,

It wouldn't be long before HYDRA Agents would come knocking again.

So, three days after the Sokovia Base was destroyed, he reported Dr. Smith missing to the Sokovia police and, pretending to be concerned, mobilized all his connections to search for Dr. Smith's whereabouts.

This gave the false impression that he didn't know Smith had been kidnapped by HYDRA.

Of course, John Garrett, who wanted the Great Strength Pill formula, would eventually come looking for trouble, but at least in his eyes, Li Chuan was just an ordinary wealthy businessman.

Moreover, it wasn't the entire HYDRA that wanted the Great Strength Pill formula, but only John Garrett's faction.

"I understand. It's fine. If you hadn't come to save me, I might be dead by now. Besides, I quite like doing research without anyone bothering me like this."

Dr. Smith waved his hand, clearly not bothered by the inability to go out.

"I also need to trouble you to keep an eye on Dr. Lister for me, and make sure he doesn't cause any trouble."

As Dr. Smith was about to leave, Li Chuan thought for a moment and then added a reminder.

Dr. Lister was forced to join him, so he must have been unwilling. He couldn't be too careful.

However, he was not S.H.I.E.L.D., and he would not treat Lister as S.H.I.E.L.D. treated Zola. Lister had no freedom with him and was not a trustworthy member.

He was a prisoner, but Li Chuan needed his research capabilities, so he provided him with better living conditions than a prisoner.

Perhaps one day when Lister was no longer useful to him and no longer a threat, he would consider releasing him.
