Then it was Yugen's turn, and perhaps his Card Draw practice this week had gone wrong, because he did not draw the key field card he wanted. Still, that was not a problem. For the first turn, he would simply skip the field and summon Submarineroid, ignoring the front line as it flew over and slapped Senior Seika directly.
Seika Kohinata, LP 4000 to LP 3200.
"Tch, just cheap tricks. That barely hurt."
Students from other dorms did not think much of it, but some from Yellow Dormitory who had suffered before shivered when they saw the submarine. Especially Yuichi, the first major victim, who stared at the familiar scene and the proudly raised flag on Senior Seika's side, exactly like his own back then. After finishing its mocking strike, the submarine switched to defense. Yugen set three cards in his back row and made a casual gesture that said it was her turn to play Yu-Gi-Oh!.
"Let me show you that I am proud of more than just looks. My Turn!, Card Draw!" Seika said. "I activate the Spell Card 'Graceful Charity', draw three cards, then discard two."
She followed up by summoning Marauding Captain.
"Marauding Captain, ATK 1200."
"When Marauding Captain is summoned, I can special summon another Level 4 or lower Warrior from my hand. I special summon Axe Raider!"
"Axe Raider, ATK 1700."
Yugen raised an eyebrow. It was the invincible Axe king, impressive indeed.
"Now I change Warrior Lady of the Wasteland to attack. With United We Stand's effect, the number of Warriors increases, so all their ATK goes up by 600!" (ANIME EFFECT)
"Warrior Lady of the Wasteland, ATK 1700." "Marauding Captain, ATK 1800." "Axe Raider, ATK 2300."
"Against united Warriors, slow tactics will not work. Battle phase, Axe Raider attacks the submarine machine!"
The Axe Raider charged forward, swinging its huge axe down at the small submarine. Of course, Yugen showed it proper respect. "I flip my set card, Trap Card 'Quaking Mirror Force'. When an opponent's monster declares an attack, all attack position monsters are turned face-down in defense, and they cannot change position afterward."
Fine, off you go, three bosses.

A storm of dust swept the field, forcing all three Warriors face-down. They lined up neatly on Senior Seika's field, each sealed and unable to move.
"With this, you have no monsters that can attack."
Yugen smiled warmly and gestured politely again. Please continue, it was still her turn to play Yu-Gi-Oh!.
"Damn it. Then I flip my set card. Continuous Trap 'Call of the Haunted'! I can revive a monster from the Graveyard in attack position!" Seika shouted. "I special summon the monster discarded by Graceful Charity.
Come forth, Level 4, the Warrior Lady of the Wasteland!"
She felt she could still fight. But Yugen did not think so.
"I activate another set card, Trap Card 'Floodgate Trap Hole'. When a monster is summoned, it is turned face-down in defense, and it cannot change position!"
Seika Kohinata froze.
Another cover. Again.
Her Warrior Lady of the Wasteland barely hit the field before joining the others face-down. Four dark cards now sat on her field, all unable to flip, quietly wasting time together.
"Damn it, then I still have this card. I activate the Quick-Play Spell 'Quick-Play Spell' 'Double Summon'. I can normal summon one extra monster from my hand!"
She drew out another card. "I tribute the face-down Axe Raider and Marauding Captain to perform a tribute summon. Level seven, Sword Hunter!"
"Sword Hunter, ATK 2450."
"Sword Hunter can absorb monsters it destroys by battle as equipment!" Seika declared. "Battle! Sword Hunter attacks the submarine machine!"
Yugen would never allow his Invincible Submarine to be taken. He waved his hand. "I activate my set card, the Quick-Play Spell 'Book of Moon'. I turn one monster on the field face-down in defense. Sword Hunter is also turned face-down!"
The newly summoned hunter tipped over and became another dark card, joining its teammates in doing nothing.
Seika Kohinata said nothing.
Fine, you win. You really can cover everything.
At least Sword Hunter, covered by Book of Moon, could flip back next turn and use its effect to grow stronger. "I set one card and end my turn," Seika said quietly.
She had heard reports that this freshman had defeated Manjoume and even the legendary Rex Raptor. Was this really how he always won? Thinking from a competitive view, she suddenly felt some sympathy for them, since this was only a casual duel inside Duel Academy with a few credits on the line, yet it already felt suffocating.
She imagined facing him in a public tournament and felt a headache coming on. And then he even mocked her.
"Senior, that's the end already?"
Seika Kohinata stayed silent.
You filled my field with face-down cards, what else am I supposed to do? His tone was polite and his smile bright, but it only made her blood pressure rise.
"Yes," she snorted heavily. "It's over. Your turn."
"Oh, then I won't hold back."
She stared coldly at him, thinking that he clearly had not held back before.
"My Turn!, Card Draw."
Yugen suddenly became serious. "As respect for your full effort in this Duel, I will also use my full strength. Watch closely, Senior. My soul, my ace monster!"
Ace monster?
Seika Kohinata tensed instantly, and the spectators held their breath as well. Was he really going to reveal his ace already? The duel clearly felt like it was reaching its climax.
"Watch carefully, Senior. I will use your face-down Warrior Lady of the Wasteland and Sword Hunter as tributes to special summon my strongest ace on your field! Awaken from the abyss of lava, the power of destruction and rebirth. Level eight, Lava Golem!"
Seika Kohinata almost spat blood.
My ace, special summoned on my field. Are you even listening to yourself?
If one word had to describe how the senior Seika Kohinata felt at this moment, it would fit all too well. A rift had opened right in front of her. How could anyone's ace and soul be summoned onto the opponent's field, and then shouted out loud without feeling strange at all?
No matter how absurd it felt, the burning demon god was now standing on her field, its body flowing with molten lava. Even as a solid projection, she felt waves of heat rolling toward her face. In front of that demon god was also a massive iron cage, trapping her in place like some kind of forced restraint play.

Even with the extra draw from Pot of Greed, he still had not pulled the key field card, but the search was good enough. Yugen reflected that true miracle draws still required long practice and real combat experience. There was clearly more work ahead.
"I add the Field Spell 'Megaroid City' from my Deck to my hand," Yugen said. "Then I activate the Field Spell 'Megaroid City'."
A deep rumble echoed as intersecting steel bridges rose up, and Megaroid City took over the Duel field. The mechanical cityscape spread out in every direction under the artificial sky.
"Next, I set one card face-down."
A pitch-black card projection appeared near Yugen's feet.
"I activate the effect of the Field Spell 'Megaroid City'," he said, sweeping his hand forward. "Once per turn, I can destroy one card I control to add one 'Machina' card from my Deck to my hand. I destroy the face-down card I just set." (ANIME EFFECT)
The set card shattered, and a giant garage projection appeared in front of him. Its heavy doors loomed open amid the smoke and sparks.
