The snow shone brightly on the very next day, and Yun Ming who had been unconscious for a whole two days, and one day after the immortal left, finally opened his eyes and accepted the light of this world.
Hmm? Where is this? Yun Ming's eyes wandered around the room, and his eyebrows frowned for a moment.
Yun Ming? But not Yun Ming. He pondered for a moment, collecting his thoughts.
So I have reincarnated in a new world? A world full of immortals at that. I guess that's not too bad. A lot better compared to my last life where I could only become a humanoid research machine for those in power.
Thinking of his past life, a hint of gloom appeared in his eyes.
His last life was a modern world full of black technology, and had no Qi or special martial arts. It did have superpowers though. Those with superpowers were babies being tested on, and luckily survived the injection of the Human II, which granted him the power to understand anything he touched, making him a super genius.
This world… Do I still have my superpowers? I guess not. After all, this body hasn't undergone Human II, so it shouldn't have Touch of Omniscience. Yun Ming thought, and ruled out a very simple problem.
After scanning the room, Yun Ming let out a light cough due to his poor physical health, but his cough was overheard by a nurse nearby, causing her to check in on him.
"You're awake!" Lulu said in surprise, and a genuine smile appeared on her face. When she saw Yun Ming when he came in when he poisoned, Lulu was genuinely sad.
"Barely kicking." Yun Ming responded.
Yun Ming still had the memories of the previous body, whether that is because his soul became a part of him or the fact the human brain keeps all the memories. Though, in novels that have Immortals, it doesn't seem to be the brain of the human that keeps the memories, but the soul.
That would make some sense, as how would Yun Ming still remember his past life, unless these memories were planted inside of him, which would be unlikely. This doesn't mean that the brain isn't a container for memories either, but a more complex way of storing them.
Ugh, why am I even thinking about these things? In a world full of fantasy, my previous world view will no longer hold up here. Yun Ming thought with a bitter smile.
Lulu saw his bitter smile and thought he was thinking about his injuries and poison.
"Yun Ming, don't worry. I heard an Immortal came down and treated your injuries." Lulu said.
"An Immortal? Are you sure Lulu?" Yun Ming asked in a weak voice, yet it appeared a lot stronger than his last words.
"Yes! I heard it was an Immortal surnamed Xu from the Nine Sky Sect." Lulu said, preparing Yun Ming some medical soup.
"Nine Sky Sect! The sect that is in the top three of the Clearness Empire?" Yun Ming asked, yet again surprised.
Lulu nodded and handed him a bowl of freshly made medical soup.
The Nine Sky Sect is one of the five great Sect's in this world, and even have a Tier Nine Immortal as their leader, hence the Nine Sky name. From Yun Ming's understanding, Immortals are listed in Tiers, one being the weakest. Each Immortal can rank up depending on their comprehension of the heaven and earth laws.
In the past, it was determined by strength, but that was an era full of carnage and slaughter. Now the world has settled down and become more about understanding and transcending current life.
Honestly, such a past doesn't surprise Yun Ming much. It happened when superpowers became a thing in his world, and took nearly sixty years of hidden wars to finally calm down and have a bit of peace, let alone a world will of old people.
Collecting his thoughts while eating, he turned his head towards the jade slip that was on his body.
He had the owner's memories and knew that he didn't own one of these. Not only was jade expensive, it also wasn't something commoners like him could obtain.
So was this a gift given to me by the Immortal? Could it be that saving my life wasn't fully enough to pay off the karma, or was he seeking good fortune by investing in me? Yun Ming's left hand grasped it, and kept it tight to his body.
He didn't know how to use the jade slip, as he didn't think that it could be used by just reading the character Xu on it.
If I remember correctly, you put the jade slip to your head and read it with your divine consciousness or spiritual senses. Depending on the world I'm in, it's probably one or the other.
Although he had a rough idea, thinking and doing are completely two different things.
"Lulu, was the head doctor or Shu Ling with the Immortal while I was being treated?" Yun Ming asked, as Lulu took the bowl of soup from him.
"It was Shu Ling with the Immortal. Why do you ask?"
"Because I wondered if the Immortal said anything to him about my condition, that's all."
"Hmm, if I'm not mistaken, Shu Ling should be back in roughly a half an hour from now. I'll take him to you if I see him around."
"Thank you Lulu."
Lulu nodded her head and quietly left the room with the bowl, leaving Yun Ming alone.
Yun Ming laid down on the bed and finally took a look around the room. It was just like the patient rooms he remembered in memory, bleak yellow bamboo wood with white cloth hanging around with a drawer by the exit door.
The bed had a few chips on the corner and the bed wasn't made out of the best material either, making it uncomfortable on his back.
Sigh, when can I leave this place? Who knows how long it would take after being healed by an immortal, especially after a mortal was hit by a poisonous immortal plant. And my medical bill is probably going up and up every hour I stay here.
Thinking about the hard earned money this body saved up just for a house he can settle down in and hopefully marry a wife made his heart bleed knowing that it will all be gone.
Although he didn't care about the wife and the house part that much, he still cared about the money!
It's normally five to twenty silver for treatment, and one silver for staying a day. One hundred silver equals one gold coin, and this body has only saved up fifty silver. A house roughly cost one gold coin, and this body has been working for six years, earning three silver a month. Damn, no matter what world it is, living in poverty sucks.
