Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Ice Breakthroughs and Clone Anger

The morning sun barely crested the horizon when the shadow clone representing Akira walked through the front gates of the Ninja Academy.

The moment his foot crossed the threshold, total chaos erupted.

With Itachi's sudden graduation, the Uchiha prodigy was no longer around for the girls to fawn over, leaving the spotlight entirely on the boy who had briefly stood toe-to-toe with him. Dozens of female students swarmed around Akira, peppering him with anxious questions about his shoulder wound while offering homemade bentos. Simultaneously, the male students glared with burning jealousy, shouting boisterous challenges to prove they were stronger than a "cowardly Branch member."

Akira's clone didn't utter a single word. Maintaining a completely blank, stoic mask, he casually glided past the screaming crowd, entered Class 3-A, and sank quietly into his seat near the back window, mentally cursing his original body's existence with every passing second.

Meanwhile, miles away inside the private villa, the real Akira sat cross-legged on a massive block of ice in his study, completely submerged in deep meditation.

He had intentionally dispatched the shadow clone to take his place at school so he could attempt the ultimate step in his research: synthesizing the Ice Release Kekkei Genkai directly within his own physical body.

It was a gamble with zero margin for error. If the elemental fusion failed inside his actual chakra pathways, the volatile reaction would freeze his internal organs and turn him into a permanent human popsicle—leaving him trapped inside a block of ice until someone found him. But if he succeeded, his chakra quality would undergo an unprecedented evolutionary leap.

Taking a deep, steadying breath, Akira raised his hands, focusing his mind into a state of absolute clarity.

In his right palm, he condensed a pool of fluid Water chakra; in his left, he sharpened a dense vortex of Wind chakra. Slowly, he brought his palms toward each other. The two elemental energies reacted instantly—first violently repelling, then rapidly pulling toward one another like long-lost lovers with terrible chemistry.

Akira opened his eyes, sweat dripping down his temples. In the small gap between his palms, a jagged crystal of ice formed and began to rapidly expand toward his chest.

Gritting his teeth against the freezing backlash, he pushed his chakra control to its absolute limit, halting the ice's growth. Suddenly, a wild epiphany struck him.

"Wait... why am I smashing them together like a caveman? What if I spin them?"

Instead of forcing the two elemental streams to collide head-on, he redirected their flow, forcing the Water and Wind chakra to weave around each other in a tight, dual-intertwined double helix—like a microscopic strand of DNA.

The moment the two streams converged at the apex of the spiral, a sudden spark of light white, frost-chilled chakra was born.

Akira's eyes widened, and a massive, goofy grin broke across his face.

"Holy crap, it actually worked! I'm a genius!"

Striking while the iron was hot, Akira closed his eyes and drove his consciousness deep inside his body. He gathered every drop of base chakra circulating through his tenketsu pathways, pulling it all down into a single point in his lower abdomen—his dantian.

Within that dense central core, he systematically repeated the double-helix fusion process on a grand scale.

The transformation was agonizingly slow and excruciating. As his base chakra converted into the new elemental fusion, his physical body began to forcefully adapt to the extreme sub-zero temperatures. His blood vessels, muscles, and chakra pathways underwent a complete structural alteration to harbor the new energy.

By the time the last drop of standard pale-blue chakra transformed into the radiant, pale-white Ice Release chakra, night had already fallen over the Leaf Village.

Akira opened his eyes and took a deep breath, exhaling a visible cloud of white frost. Although the total volume of his chakra had condensed down to roughly one-third of its original quantity due to the sheer density of the fusion, its raw quality was on an entirely different level. The temperature inside the room had plummeted drastically, yet the massive ice block beneath him showed no signs of melting.

Squeak!

Snowy, who had been resting nearby, immediately bounded across the room and leaped straight into Akira's arms.

"Woah, incoming white blur!" Akira caught the fox, overcome with pure, giddy joy from his success. Laughing hysterically, he spun Snowy around in the air like a helicopter propeller. "We did it, Snowy! I'm officially cooler than the Uchiha! Literally!"

When he finally stopped and set her down on the desk, the poor fox stood on wobbling legs, her eyes spinning in dizzy spirals as she swayed side to side before flopping face-first onto her stomach.

Akira's triumphant laughter instantly vanished, replaced by immediate guilt. "Oh no, no, no! Snowy! I broke the fox!"

He rushed over, channeling a gentle, highly refined stream of his new pale-white ice chakra through his fingertips to soothe her dizzy head. Feeling the crisp, refreshing sensation, Snowy perked up instantly, happily licking Akira's hand with her soft, warm tongue.

"Hey, stop that! That tickles, you little traitor!" Akira chuckled, playfully nudging her nose away.

POOF!

Akira turned around just in time to see his shadow clone standing near the doorway, sporting a dark, profoundly vengeful scowl.

Before the real Akira could even ask 'How was school?', the clone gave him a sinister smirk and voluntarily dispersed itself.

BANG!

A massive wave of compressed memories, sensory overload, and pure, unfiltered student harassment hit the real Akira all at once. He dropped directly to his knees, clutching his throbbing head as thirty different squealing girls and screaming fanboys echoed inside his brain simultaneously.

"You petty little bastard..." Akira wheezed, groaning on the floor as he sorted through the mental trauma.

It took a full half-hour of quiet breathing on the floor to piece together his clone's horrific day.

Akira had completely forgotten to swap places with the clone at noon because he was stuck in deep chakra refinement, leaving the poor clone stranded for the entire afternoon to endure relentless attention. Among the chaotic memories, one particular event stood out.

During the final break, Uchiha Izumi had approached his desk, bowing deeply to apologize on Itachi's behalf for dragging Akira into the spotlight during the graduation exam. She had then extended a warm invitation, mentioning that her mother wanted to invite Akira over for dinner at their home in the Uchiha district as an apology.

Finding the idea of free food hilarious—and recognizing a perfect, natural opportunity to scout the inner layout and security of the isolated Uchiha perimeter without raising suspicion—the clone had cheerfully accepted the invitation for the upcoming Sunday.

Standing up and dusting off his knees, Akira's stomach suddenly let out a loud, thunderous growl.

He patted his empty belly, looking over at Snowy, who tilted her head curiously.

"Well... my clone definitely hates me, but a breakthrough is a breakthrough!" Akira grinned brightly, snatching his apron off the chair. "Come on, Snowy! Time to celebrate with a feast fit for kings!"
