Chapter 20 - Chapter 19: The Mercenary and the Panda

"Satoru..."

"Are you done testing?"

Principal Yaga's lips twitched. He looked at the devastation around them.

The handshake had lasted only a few seconds. But in those seconds, Gojo Satoru had ripped off his blindfold.

His Six Eyes flared. Azure Cursed Energy erupted.

"Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue."

A terrifying gravitational force exploded from Gojo's palm, trying to crush Mirai's hand into a singularity.

Yaga reacted instantly, grabbing Maki and leaping away.

CRACK!

The concrete ground shattered. The guardrails twisted like pretzels. Leaves were pulverized into dust.

But Mirai stood there, his hand still phasing through Gojo's, completely unaffected by the gravity.

"Interesting," Gojo grinned, his eyes gleaming with arrogance. "Gravity doesn't work. What about this?"

"Cursed Technique Reversal: Red."

BOOM!

A shockwave of pure repulsion blasted outward. The air screamed. The debris was launched into the distance like shrapnel.

But Mirai didn't move an inch. The shockwave passed through him as if he were a hologram.

He's not here, Gojo analyzed instantly. His body is projected here, but his mass exists in another dimension.

To hit him... I need something that disrupts space itself. Or a Domain Expansion.

"Satoru GOJO!!"

Yaga roared, stepping into the fray. He shoved Gojo aside.

"This brat does this whenever he sees a technique he doesn't understand!" Yaga bowed deeply to Mirai. "I am so sorry, Zenin-sensei."

Mirai withdrew his hand. He dusted off his shoulder, unbothered.

"Don't worry, Principal," Mirai smiled faintly. "It's just curiosity. I don't mind."

"After all... Mr. Gojo is young. We all have our impetuous phases."

"Heh."

Gojo rewrapped his bandages, a crazy smile lingering on his lips. "Young? You're ten years younger than me, brat."

"Mei Mei!" Yaga shouted, grabbing Gojo by the collar. "Take Zenin-sensei to the faculty room! Satoru and I have... urgent business!"

"Panda! Take the students back to class! NOW!"

Yaga dragged Gojo away before the strongest sorcerer could start a war.

...

The Faculty Hallway.

Mei Mei, the curvaceous sorcerer with the braided hair, led Mirai and White Zetsu down the hall.

She walked with a swaying gait, her purple dress rustling.

"Miss Mei Mei," Mirai said softly. "Let's exchange contact information."

Mei Mei paused. She turned around, surprised.

"Holy crap! You're moving fast!"

White Zetsu jumped up from behind. "You're way too direct, Mirai-boy!! Where did you learn these pickup lines?!"

"At least tell her she looks like a movie star first!"

Mirai's eye twitched. "Get out of here, Zetsu. Or I'll sew your mouth shut."

White Zetsu yelped. "Okay, okay! I'm going to check on my niece! Good luck with your girl-chasing!"

He bolted down the hallway.

Mirai ignored him. He pulled out his phone.

"I have a few business deals that I think you would be interested in, Miss Mei Mei."

"Oh?"

Mei Mei brushed her hair back. A glint of greed flashed in her eyes. "Business with the Zenin Clan Head? I'm listening."

They exchanged numbers.

"Simple," Mirai said. "I need 'food' for my collection."

"10 million yen for capturing a Grade 1 Cursed Spirit alive."

"Special Grade... 100 million."

Mei Mei's crimson lips parted in a smile. "I'm quite satisfied with the payment. But..."

"Capturing Spirits alive is difficult. Transporting them is harder."

Mirai smiled faintly.

"If Cursed Spirits are inconvenient... Curse Users will do."

"Sorcerers have richer energy anyway."

Mei Mei's smile widened. She didn't blink at the implication of human trafficking.

"Deal."

...

The First Year Classroom.

"Maki! Your brother is insane!"

Panda lay on his desk, gossiping loudly. "He tanked Gojo-sensei's Red! And he instantly killed a Grade 1 sorcerer!"

"And what's with your Uncle?" Panda asked. "Is he... you know?"

"Panda!"

Maki slammed her spear onto the desk. "If you ever call that idiot my Uncle again... I'll turn you into a rug!"

BANG!

The door flew open.

"Little Maki! Uncle is here to see y—"

White Zetsu froze. He saw the spear. He saw the murder in Maki's eyes.

"...Uncle is here to... uh... inspect the class!"

He quickly pivoted and jumped onto Panda.

"Panda! You're so fluffy!" White Zetsu buried his face in Panda's fur. "Let me huff you! Sniff! Sniff!"

"Get off me!" Panda shouted, trying to peel the Cursed Spirit off. "You feel weird! Cold and slimey!"

White Zetsu ignored him. He hopped off Panda and walked toward Yuta.

"Hello, classmate!"

White Zetsu grabbed Yuta's hand and shook it vigorously.

"Nice to meet you! Can I touch your shoulder? Just a little bit?"

Yuta blushed, confused. "Uh... sure?"

White Zetsu touched Yuta's shoulder. His hidden eyes widened.

Infinite Cursed Energy, White Zetsu thought. This kid is a battery. No wonder Geto wants him.

"Why is Brother Mirai teaching here?" Maki asked, standing up.

White Zetsu shrugged. "Do you think that kid explains things to me?"

"But..." White Zetsu leaned in, whispering loudly. "I think he's bored. And he wants to keep an eye on him."

He pointed at Yuta.

"Why me?" Yuta squeaked.

"Aren't you going back to the mansion?" Maki frowned. "It's dangerous here. Someone might exorcise you."

"Nah," White Zetsu grinned. "I'm the Assistant Teacher now! Mirai-boy said so!"

"Besides... I want to see the Night Parade."
