Chapter 20 - Anger

When House arrived at the room, he first asked Dan's parents to step outside to talk and left Cameron with Dan to make sure the boy was fine.

As soon as Elion closed the door to the room, House's face turned cold as he fixed his gaze on the two lying adults in front of him.

"You two lied to me. Do you know how dangerous it is to deceive doctors when making a diagnosis?"

After a moment of stunned silence, Dan's father replied angrily, "We didn't hide anything!"

"On the contrary, in your diagnosis you even insinuated that we had abused our own son!"

"You're a bastard doctor!"

Seeing that the two were about to start arguing, Foreman, wanting to prevent the dispute from escalating further, stopped Dan's father from doing something foolish.

"You are not the child's biological parents. That's the problem. You omitted an important part of your son's information, and that has delayed his treatment."

Upon hearing Foreman's words, Dan's mother remained noticeably calm. "What makes you say that? We are the child's biological parents!"

Dan's father opened his mouth to speak, but when he saw the look in Dan's mother's eyes, he immediately fell silent.

"The DNA comparison results don't show that…"

Upon hearing the words "DNA comparison," Dan's mother's expression changed drastically, and she said angrily, "Did you get our permission?!"

"Is it legal to conduct DNA comparisons privately like this?"

"I'm going to report you! I'm going to expose you to the media!"

"Unscrupulous doctors like you should be punished!"

Foreman, who was caught in the middle of the massacre, wondered whether those stray bullets would hit him as well.

"That doesn't change the fact that you lied to us, and if you keep lying, you can get out of this hospital. But remember, it's you who are killing your son."

Elion, who was standing to the side, said, "I ran the test without your consent. Don't blame the other doctors. But as Foreman said, you lied, and that's far more serious."

"Are you even a doctor?"

"I'm an intern, but even if you decide to go forward with a lawsuit, keep in mind that while you focus on other things, your son is dying."

Foreman looked at Dan's parents and said, "Don't attack the intern. We're not here to argue about your lie, but to let you know that if you lie to us, the consequences can be very serious."

The sudden warnings and accusations put the parents in a difficult position, leaving them deeply distressed.

"Some of his traits told us that the child was probably not your son, but we don't care about that. What matters to us is whether the problems your son is presenting are hereditary, and that's what's important."

It is a fact that Dan is not your biological son, and it is also a fact that Dan has a cleft chin.

This is a physiological phenomenon that cannot be changed.

Dan's mother sighed softly. "Yes, he was adopted, but he didn't need to know that. We've always treated him as our own son."

Foreman shook his head. "But as doctors, we must understand the family medical history."

"This will help greatly in making an accurate diagnosis."

Dan's father said in confusion, "But we provided detailed and clear information about his biological mother!"

"She doesn't smoke, she has low cholesterol, and her blood pressure is very healthy. Also, we adopted Dan when he was only two weeks old."

"You already have the entire family medical history; we didn't hide anything!"

Elion, who now had the opening he needed to continue, asked, "Did Dan's biological mother receive vaccinations when she was a child?"

"As far as I know, many people believe that vaccines are a hoax from a century ago created by biopharmaceutical companies to make profits."

Before Elion could finish speaking, Dan's father interrupted him. "Dan began receiving regular vaccinations when he was six months old!"

Foreman said in frustration, "Of course your son has been vaccinated, because we have his vaccination records."

"But what you may not know is that before a baby reaches six months of age, he depends entirely on the mother's immune system to fight diseases."

"So the question is whether his mother had been vaccinated."

Dan's father opened his mouth but couldn't say anything, because now both he and his wife realized something they had never considered before.

They truly didn't know that babies depend on their mother's immune system to fight diseases before six months of age.

He quickly said, "Wait a moment," then took out his phone and stepped aside to make a call.

It seemed that Dan's father still had the contact information for Dan's biological mother.

After a while, Dan's father returned with a somber expression and shook his head toward Elion.

Having reached this point, Elion turned to House and said, "I think Dan may have contracted the measles virus when he was a baby."

"But since Dan showed no symptoms, I have reason to suspect that the measles virus mutated. This mutated virus has been lurking in his brain for sixteen years."

After Elion finished speaking, Foreman, who was somewhat lost in thought, responded unconsciously, "We're dealing with something unique."

"Without a doubt, something very interesting."
