Sven certainly understood that the ceremony was a very important event in every person's life. Yet, Sven still stayed up until the dead of night reading the web novel "SSS-Rank Toilet Cleaner: Extra Skill."
"This is total crap in every sense, and a harem to boot. But why am I so interested?" Sven usually went to bed early. But specifically today, Sven decided to stay up late. It wasn't even a decision; he just kept reading, justifying it by telling himself the book was interesting.
But the next day, Lora the maid was knocking on Sven's door. Sven didn't open it. So, she opened it herself. Sven was asleep; the blanket was scattered, just like his smartphone. His hair was messy, and his face glistened in the sunlight. He looked very delicate. Lora approached him and calmly woke him up. If she hadn't changed his diapers herself once, she might have actually fallen in love. Sven calmly opened his eyes. After blinking a few more times, he jerked upright.
— What time is it? — Sven said.
— Exactly 10 — Lora said.
"Thank God, I'll make it."
Sven got up, washed, brushed his teeth, used a face foam, applied cream, and put on sunscreen. For his outing, he put on a shirt with ruffles at the throat, dark trousers, and a dark formal vest.
His father was waiting irritably for Sven in the car. Sven entered his father's dark SUV. Without a word, his father lurched the car forward, and they drove off.
"To see and awaken a class, a person needs to be hit by a strong wave of Kir. And this Octobus Tower is some kind of universal site; scientists conduct research there, priests go on pilgrimages, and it also maintains the protective dome over the city. There are cases where kids awaken their class just by stepping into the building. Of course, there are filters to stop Kir from leaking out, but they hardly help much."
— Hey, beaver, let's go — said Sven's father, Arthur.
— Are we already there? — Sven asked.
Sven got out of the SUV. In front of the big octobus tower. This tower was titanic, more than 500 meters, against its background all other buildings seemed like grains of sand. The tower itself resembled a dark crystal, without windows. And around it flew many more small towers of octus, they were uncountable. And called these octuses names blasphemous. And around this tower was a 6-storey building for parking.
Sven walked behind his father; they took an elevator down from the 6th floor. Then they entered the tower. The first thing Sven saw was a long queue; people were sitting on chairs, waiting for their number to pop up on a small monitor. A red carpet lay there, stretching from the entrance to the "Statue of Heazhus," which looked like a four-meter-tall dragonoid. This room looked like a huge hangar made of dark bricks, with many doors inside that were forbidden to enter.
Sven's father went to the registration desk and whispered something to the girl sitting there. She made a phone call. Only then did Sven approach. But Sven still managed to hear his father tell her to give them "their key." The girl, who had slightly reddish skin, handed over a key with the number 004. Soon, a stout man arrived, wearing a business suit, round glasses, and slicked-back hair. He took the key and led them behind him, first taking them to the basement floor. They walked through many long gray corridors with doors. Suddenly, the man stopped and opened door number 004. Inside the room, there was nothing but a statue of Heazhus and some chairs.
— You can stay here until 9 PM — the stout man said.
— Do you need an instructor, Lord Arthur Laocard?
"Well, he clearly knew my father, Arthur. Not surprising; they're like stars here. Well, not the most famous ones, but stars nonetheless."
— No, we don't need anyone — Arthur said.
— Very well — the stout man said.
He stood there for a few more minutes, then realized he was unwelcome. He got embarrassed and left.
— You take the statue's hand, and I'll wait — Father Arthur said.
Arthur sat on a chair and pulled out the "Bible of Atheism." Sven touched the dragonoid statue. His body fell into stasis, and his consciousness found itself in his subconscious. Sven's subconscious visually looked like a small moon that he was sitting on. Around him was an abstract existence. It is impossible to describe the emotions and feelings, but it was like an ant that tastes like strawberries. Visually, an infinite number of planets flew around Sven, constantly changing at the speed of sound; space was not black, but purple. Sven stood up on the moon and said to it:
— Who am I? — Sven asked.
A face appeared on the moon, and it said:
— You are Sven — the Moon said.
— I expected something else — Sven said.
— …
The Moon didn't have time to say anything more to Sven. Sven's body grew, absorbing everything. The moon, the infinite planets, and the purple space. But he hit a limit; he was trapped in a circle. His head couldn't go beyond the cosmos, nor could his heels; he sat in a tight space. But he felt his body burning and the smell of a frog. His mind could not withstand the "Great Nothing" beyond the cosmos. It shattered into zarcatollion particles, and from his mind, a new cosmos was created. A purple cosmos with several planets. He couldn't see them, of course, but he felt the smell and taste of all the planets, which tasted like clouds, sand, and the taste of the letter "R." As for the smell, it was like the condensation not of the phenomenon itself, but the smell of the word; it was viscous and cold.
Suddenly, everything snapped back. Sven returned from his subconscious. His body exited stasis, and his head throbbed, unable to cope. Everything seemed so abstract and yet simultaneously clear. When Sven tried to walk away, he began to fall. Arthur caught him in his arms.
— What is your class?— Arthur asked.
— Warlock — Sven replied.
He said it automatically. It was as if it were hardwired into him; he knew all his stats, traits, and abilities, just like in the game "Keeper of Ashes." Then, Sven lost consciousness.
