Chapter 1 - The Butterfly Effect - Prolouge

Why do people strive for power?

You see this in everyday examples. When you go for a promotion in your workplace, you are looking for more power in that setting. In school, when you study to get a better grade on a test, just to brag to your friends, you are actively looking to be above them.

Is that a bad thing? Not really. The world is usually a very boring, normal place. That sense of competition makes it exciting.

However, in pushing for that power, you can hurt people. Mentally. So sometimes, you need to limit yourself. Pushing for power can have risks. Let's just say you are going for a job opening, and your friend is going for the same position. If you have a better interview and get the job, there is a risk that they will be very upset with you. That is a small risk though. You can make up, and you can help your friend find a new job. Simple solution, right?

What if you had that same scenario, but the entire world, and how it functioned, would be altered entirely?

In this reality, that happened.

A desire for power caused a crazy phenomena to occur. An accident, aided along by a small group of misfits, allowed for the balance of the world to be flipped upside down.

People began unlocking strong abilities, and people without these abilities would view them as Gods. These super humans would be able to dodge bullets, fly, and even stronger ones could contort reality itself.

The Butterfly Effect.

An interesting concept. A small detail can lead to something massive to happen, which wouldn't be near the same scale. One of the most famous examples of this would be 'a butterfly that flaps it's wings on one side of the world can eventually cause a hurricane on the other side of the world.'

This story starts with the butterfly flapping its' wings.

How one twelve-year-old boy, who joined a gang to find revenge and a sense of belonging...

Caused that hurricane.
