The Poké Ball burst open, and a powerfully built Electabuzz landed in the center of the arena, electricity crackling across its body.

"So this is where your confidence comes from, Lt. Surge?"
Lt. Surge's stubborn, unrepentant attitude completely ignited Sam's fury.
At first, Sam had only intended to teach him a lesson.
Now?
He wanted Lt. Surge to experience despair.
Only by feeling the same hopelessness he had inflicted on countless challengers would Lt. Surge truly understand how cruel his actions had been.
Sam recalled Scyther and calmly reached for another Poké Ball.
"Then today, I'll let you understand the gap between us."
"Come out—Tyranitar!!!"
A massive figure clad in green armor emerged onto the battlefield.
The moment Tyranitar appeared, Electabuzz's aggressive momentum vanished completely.
As a Pokémon, it could instinctively sense the overwhelming terror radiating from Tyranitar.
Lt. Surge's heart froze.
"How… how is this possible?!"
The pressure Tyranitar gave off felt hauntingly familiar—
The same suffocating presence he had felt two years ago when facing Bruno during a Masters exhibition match.
Impossible.
Lt. Surge shook his head violently, forcing himself to calm down.
There was no way.
Bruno was one of the Kanto Elite Four.
Sam was just a rookie Trainer.
There was no comparison.
"Don't try to bluff me!" Lt. Surge roared.
"It's just an overgrown Pokémon! Electabuzz—attack!"
Sam merely smiled, disdain flashing in his eyes.
Some people preferred to deceive themselves.
Very soon, reality would crush him.

Electabuzz let out a roar, pumping itself up before charging forward.
As a Pokémon only one step away from the Elite tier, Electabuzz's speed and attack power were outstanding.
Against most opponents, it would have dominated.
Unfortunately for it—
Its opponent was Tyranitar.
Electabuzz sprinted forward with everything it had and swung its right arm downward like a blade.
The force was so great that the air itself seemed to split.
Lt. Surge's face lit up with excitement.
It was over.
No Pokémon could withstand a full-power blow from his Electabuzz.
But just as the strike was about to land—
The ground beneath Electabuzz's feet turned into loose sand.
In an instant, the sand locked around its legs, freezing it in place mere inches from Tyranitar.
Lt. Surge's smile shattered.
"WHAT?! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!"
The scene before him completely overturned everything he knew.
Transforming solid ground into sand at will?
What kind of ability was this?
He had never seen it.
Never even heard of it.
Before he could process what was happening, Electabuzz let out a piercing scream.
The sand didn't stop at its legs.
It spread upward, swallowing Electabuzz's body piece by piece, leaving only its head exposed.
Under Tyranitar's control, the sand began to compress.
Every slight tightening brought unbearable pain.
Electabuzz screamed again and again, its wails echoing throughout the Gym.
Outside the arena, Lt. Surge's gang of delinquents felt their legs go weak.
They recognized that scream.
It was Electabuzz.
Their Gym Leader's strongest Pokémon.
What kind of challenger could reduce it to this?
A devil?
"Let's run…!"
"Will he kill us?!"
Panic spread instantly.
One ran.
Then another.
In moments, the entire Gym emptied, leaving no one behind.
Inside the arena, Lt. Surge finally broke.
"Stop—STOP!!!"
"I surrender! I surrender!!!"
He could no longer bear to watch his Pokémon suffer.
