Dorian's POV
"Dorian?" Vivienne's voice shook through the phone as she waited for my response.
I stayed silent, though I knew she could hear my breathing.
"Well... that is that," she whispered. "Just come see me. I'll explain everything, I'll be home soon." She paused, waiting for me to speak. When I didn't, she added, "Love you." Then the line went dead.
I stared at my phone, my mind reeling. The words I'd just heard didn't make sense. Couldn't make sense.

Vivienne pressed the phone against her chest, her heart pounding wildly. She'd never planned to break the news this way—so blunt, so casual—but circumstances had forced her hand.
She exhaled slowly, tapping her temple.
"What did he say?" Quentin asked quietly.
She turned toward him. "Nothing," she murmured. "I just hope he shows up."
Quentin moved closer. "He will. Want me to call him? Maybe I can talk him into coming?"
"No." She shook her head firmly. "We'll just wait."
