Elena's POV
When they handed the thief over to the police, I wanted to stick around and watch the whole thing unfold, maybe follow Silas and Vivienne's guard down to the station. But Vivienne and Kenzie were still rattled from everything that had happened.
So I headed home with them instead, even brewing Vivienne some tea to settle her nerves. Kenzie bounced back almost instantly, already texting and calling her friends about the drama.
"Thank you so much, Elena," Vivienne said, placing her teacup on the nightstand. "I don't know what would have happened if..."
My chest tightened. "Don't worry about it, ma'am. We should just be thankful they caught him."
Vivienne pressed her fingers to her temples, her voice shaking. "The thought that he came after us... wanted to take... my daughter... How did he even find us there?"
"No clue," I said with a shrug. "Maybe he tailed us from the first spot? Since it was out in the open?"
"Could be," Vivienne whispered.
